    Zhang Chunhui, Chen Jixiang
    2011, 32(8): 9-16.
    Abstract ( 1920 )   PDF (1086KB) ( 2503 )
To gain competitive advantages, enterprises need to make a rational decision on innovation mode selection under the condition of limited resources and competence. With an evolutionary game theory, the innovation mode selection of enterprises under innovation input subsidy and subsidy for innovative products is discussed, based on that, the impacts of two innovation subsidies on innovation mode selection are analyzed and compared. The results show that regardless of innovation input subsidy or subsidy for innovative products, increasing standards of these two innovation subsidies will cause enterprises select radical innovation mode with the higher probability and select incremental innovation mode with the lower probability, otherwise the results are reverse; under the condition of difference between product price and marginal cost, there is a different caused by the impact significance of two innovation subsidies on innovation mode selection.

    Abstract ( 1970 )   PDF (1042KB) ( 2661 )
Enterprises’ continuous competitive advantage is benefit from high effective technological learning. The impact of technological capability potential energy and technological capability potential energy gap on technological learning are analyzed, and an effect model of technological capability improvement on technological learning is developed based on the theory of system dynamics, the model analyzes the active process of technological capability improvement on technological learning. Also, the dynamic impacts of enterprises’ technological capability improvement on technological learning rate are simulated. The result indicates that a negative impact on technological learning rate would be generated when the growth of technological capability is slowdown; and readjusting technological capability potential energy gap at an appropriate opportunity would prolong and increase the efficiency of technological learning rate. The conclusion could provide the reference for exploring available technological capability to acquire the best learning effects for enterprises.

The performance of high-tech enterprises investment and finance based on the entropy theory—Taking Hubei Province as the example
    Yang Bo, Su Na
    2011, 32(8): 42-50.
    Abstract ( 1851 )   PDF (1114KB) ( 2804 )
The performance of finance and investment of high-tech enterprises in Hubei Province has been empirically researched based on the entropy theory from the year of 2004 to 2007. The evaluation finds that the performance is obviously fluctuat and is not going up with the growth of the quantity of investment and finance of high-tech enterprises. The results also show that pharmaceutical manufacturing enterprises have the best performance on investment and finance, while enterprises in medical equipment and instrumentation industry have the worst performance in the five different high-tech industries; it indicates that the industry with quick growth and high-tech content has better performance on investment and finance. Therefore, the government should pay more attention to improve the growth of performance rather than growth of the quantity on investment and finance of high-tech enterprises.

Technology spillovers and technology gap:A linear relationship ora quadratic non-linear relationship
Wang Xiangyang, Lu Yanqiu, Zhao Yingxin
    2011, 32(8): 51-56,66.
    Abstract ( 1896 )   PDF (926KB) ( 2620 )
Based on the relevant literature review, the hypothesis that there is either a linear or a quadratic non-linear relationship between FDI technology spillovers and technological gap was proposed. Meanwhile, regression models and the structural equation model were established, and then 248 valid samples were analyzed by using SPSS and LISREL software. Based on the strong evidence, empirical results indicate that there is a quadratic nonlinearity rather than linearity between technology spillovers and technological gap, and a threshold effect exists in the effects of technology spillovers. The conclusions provide empirical evidence and suggestions for high-tech enterprises to utilize technology spillovers.

Sun Wei, Wang Jiuyun, Cheng Liwei
    2011, 32(8): 57-66.
    Abstract ( 2012 )   PDF (994KB) ( 2780 )
By using Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA), the indigenous innovation efficiency changes and decomposition of Chinese high-tech industry are measured, and the spillover effect of FDI quantity and technological quantity is verified by groups based on ownership structure. The results show that (1) The innovation efficiency changes of private sectors grow faster than that for state-owned enterprises and growing source is significantly different. The indigenous innovation efficiency changes for private sectors mainly come from the rapid growth of technological exchange and allocation efficiency changes, while the changes for state-owned enterprises are mainly due to the ascension of technical efficiency and scale efficiency. (2)Both of foreign quality features and ownership structures are important factors affecting technology spillovers. Technology content and profitability have the positive influence on FDI spillover while average scale of FDI has the negative influence on FDI spillover, although these influences only have significant on state-owned enterprises. The localization of FDI becomes the only foreign quality feature which has the significant positive spillover affect on private sectors. (3) The interaction between quantity and quality features of FDI possesses the significant difference in different departments.

    Pan Ancheng, Wang Wei
    2011, 32(8): 84-89.
    Abstract ( 2335 )   PDF (971KB) ( 3808 )
Firm strategizing behavior is an interaction process between management-levels’ change and Organizational Change (OC). It is argued that interactive mechanism between Management-levels’ Knowledge Structure(MKS) and OC can reveal firms’ strategizing behavior. Within the organizational structurational framework, the structurational dualism of the knowledge resided in managers is analyzed, and the fact that MKS provides a new impetus for OC is pointed out, then the influence of OC on the change of MKS is explored, and it is indicated that organizational changing activities (turnovers, knowledge transformation, and organizational learning) could change MKS. The findings suggest that firm strategizing behavior is the structurational processes between MKS and OC activity, and finally a case study of HP is presented.

The influencing factors of inter-organizational resources
    Zheng Suli, Wu Xiaobo
    2011, 32(8): 90-97.
    Abstract ( 1963 )   PDF (957KB) ( 2231 )
Recently, the resource base of firms has deeply changed with the transformation of competition. Resources embedded in inter-organizational networks become the bases of competitive advantage. Although the academics and practitioners have recognized the importance of inter-organizational resources in the competition, which factors influence the formation of inter-organizational resources remains unanswered. Based on literature review and field study, the influential factor model of inter-organizational resource is put forward, and then survey data are used to conduct a regression analysis between inter-organizational resources and their influential factors. The results show that the focal firm’s absorptive capability, the resource endowment level of partner firms, and the relational characteristics have the significant influence on inter-organizational resources, the mechanism shows some differences when considering the four specific factors of inter-organizational resources.

Ultimate control, corporate governance, and overinvestment by local state-owned companies
    Liu Xing, Lian Jun
    2011, 32(8): 105-112.
    Abstract ( 1877 )   PDF (910KB) ( 2562 )
By choosing Chinese local state-owned listed companies during the period of 2005~2008 as samples, from the perspective of free-cash-flow agency problems, the corporate governance effects of cash-flow rights and control rights are studied when local government is ultimate controller. The empirical results indicate that (1) only when cash-flow rights held by local government is at a higher level, the cash-flow rights have the incentive effect, which can bind the behavior of abusing free cash flow for over investment; However, when cash-flow rights is at a lower level, the incentive effect is not found. (2) the divergence between control rights and cash-flow rights has the entrenchment effect. However, when cash-flow rights held by local government is at a higher level, the cost of overinvestment for private benefits is increasing, therefore, the entrenchment effect becomes moderate accordingly. The study provides enlightenment for understanding the proxy conflict between the ultimate shareholder and external minority shareholders in local state-owned listed companies during the period of transition economies, and enriches empirical literatures involving the study on corporate governance under the control of government.

Network externality, tariff, and firms’ compatibility decision
    Zhong Chen, Sun Wujun
    2011, 32(8): 113-118,160.
    Abstract ( 1895 )   PDF (954KB) ( 2697 )
By employing dynamic game methods, price competition and compatibility decisions between domestic and foreign firms in an industry with network externalities when tariff is levied are focused on. The results show that network externality intensifies price competition while the compatibility weakens the competition. The tariff as a substitute for quality differences determines the market advantage position between domestic and foreign firms. Hence, suitable tariff is helpful for both the development of domestic firm and the market entry of foreign firm. Furthermore, the marginal compatibility costs determine the optimal compatibility degree. These results would be useful for the decisions making of firms and government.

Third party logistics service quality and its impact on customer satisfaction of C2C
Ye Zuoliang, Cai Li, Ye Zhenhua, Dai Li
    2011, 32(8): 119-126.
    Abstract ( 2086 )   PDF (1017KB) ( 2525 )
Third Party Logistics(3PL) tends to interact with the customers on behalf of the manufacture companies, when the logistics is outsourced, especially in the market of electronic commerce. Therefore how the service quality of 3PL affects the customer satisfaction becomes a key issue. Based on the logistics-service-quality model, a Logistics-Service-Quality and Customer-Satisfaction(LSQ-CS) model is built. The empirical analysis shows that the interactive quality and operation quality both affect the customer satisfaction of logistics service provider, furthermore the interactive quality affects the operation quality and cost quality. But the cost quality does not affect the customer satisfaction. And the service quality of 3PL does affect the customer satisfaction of companies. These research findings could contribute to 3PL provider for avoiding the vicious competition from low cost and company should select 3PL provider based on logistics-service-quality instead of only on cost.

The real options incentive to "failed" R&D projects
Gao Junfeng, Yin Lu, Jiang Lan
    2011, 32(8): 127-132.
    Abstract ( 1721 )   PDF (963KB) ( 2736 )
How to give incentive to the "failed" projects is a difficult issue. A method of real options incentive to R&D teams which is suitable for "failed" R&D projects is discussed. This approach looks at the enterprises resources and capabilities accumulations in the "failed" project as option value components of follow-up technical projects. These options include the option to defer, the option to contract, the option to change scale, the option to abandon, the option to switch, and the option to growth (the upgrade of products). The firms could choose appropriate option incentive schemes and exercise methods by the value of different real options.

Network analysis on the coordination between developers and source code in anopen source software community
Wu Jiang, Hu Bin, Zhang Jinlong
    2011, 32(8): 133-141,150.
    Abstract ( 1948 )   PDF (1028KB) ( 2840 )
Because of the voluntarily participation and open service, Open Source Software (OSS) community has attracted more and more developers to make contributions, however its coordination is still a big problem. The coordination of developers and source code are studied. By the meta-network analysis, the total amount of commitment to the source code repository could be regarded as the measure to observe the success of an OSS project, and this index is highly related to the dependency network of committers and modules. The data from CVS repository in sourceforge. net is used to construct a dependency network, and the impact of coordination in a dependency network on project success is examined to align with five coordination criteria: intermediation, hierarchization, marginalization, consistency, and adjacency. It could help developers to reduce the transaction cost and efficiently manage coordination during software development in an OSS community.

    2011, 32(8): 142-150.
    Abstract ( 2733 )   PDF (947KB) ( 3061 )
It is of great importance for academic journals to appropriately handle manuscripts rejection in order to enhance the competitiveness and create academic reputation. Aimeing at the influence of peer review justice perception on submission intention, a survey on 286 young scholars who experienced manuscript rejection from a research-oriented university is examined. The results show that (1) among three types of peer review justice (procedural, interpersonal, and informational justice), only informational justice has a significantly positive impact on submission intention, which is fully mediated by overall justice; (2) publication fee plays a positive moderating role on the relationship between information justice and submission intention. However, the moderating effect of academic journal level is insignificant; (3) Overall justice is a distinct construct from procedural, informational, and interpersonal justice, and accounts for additional explanation effect on submission intention.

Managerial overconfidence and corporate financial decisions:An empirical study
Xiao Fenglei, Li Yanxi, Luan Qingwei
    2011, 32(8): 151-160.
    Abstract ( 3593 )   PDF (1025KB) ( 3935 )
The relationship between corporate financial policy and three levels of managerial overconfidence which are chairman of the board, CEO and TMT is comparatively analyzed. The results show that chairman of the board overconfidence has a significant effect on corporate investment, merger, finance, and dividend payout polices. Meanwhile, CEO overconfidence and TMT overconfidence only have significant effect on corporate investment expenditure and debt maturity structure. It is indicated that chairman of the board overconfidence is more appropriate to explain the irrational financial decisions of listed companies in China. In addition, it is found that managerial overconfidence has insignificant effect on corporate capital structure and it is different from some results of foreign literature.
