Abstract: The entire industry is diveded into two departments consisting of equipment manufacturing and non-equipment manufacturing, a two-sector model is applied to research on the impetus function and spillover effects of the development of equipment manufacturing industries on entire industry. The panel data constituted by time-series data from the year of 2000 to 2007 and cross-section data from 31 provinces in China has been taken in use for empirical testing, the results show that (1) There are enormous spillover effects on non-equipment manufacturing sector from the equipment manufacturing industry, and the spillover elasticity is 7.996 percent; (2) The impetus function of equipment manufacturing industry on the entire industrial economics is obvious, and the contribution rate reaches at 9.15 percent; (3) The average element marginal output ratio for equipment manufacturing industry is 10.07 percent higher than that for non-equipment manufacturing sectors.
