The Innovation Network Governance of Knowledge Intensive Services: A Comparative Case Study
    2016, 37(1): 11-19.
    Abstract ( 765 )
The special features of service innovation network require new form of governance mechanisms to address its challenges. From the relational perspective, the existent studies ignore the effect of formal institution in the innovation networks. The impact mechanisms of nework govenance on service innovation are still less discussed. We clarify the differences of innovation network governance mechanisms in knowledge intensive services: Institution-based relational governance and Emotion-based relational governance. We explore how service companies improve service innovation by designing proper governance mechanisms. A theoretical framework of two process of multilateral non-linear coordination and highly embeded knowledge mobility are established to show the relationship between network governance mechanisms and service innovation. The emerging theory of service network governance and its implications will help us get more understanding of innovation strategy and competitiveness in knowledge intensive services.

Technology Seeking FDI Spillover and Threshold Effects of the Informational Development Level
    2016, 37(1): 20-27.
    Abstract ( 887 )
Based on provincial panel data from 2003 to 2010, a threshold model is constructed to analyze the relationship between the technology seeking FDI spillover and technology progress, which considers informatization development index (IDI) as the threshold variable. The empirical results support that labor and R&D capital were the main factors to boost the technology development in the long term. Second, the informational development level is unbalanced in areas, threshold value is highest in the east while it is lowest and centralized in the central China, and the value span is largest in the west. Third, with the unceasing development of the information level, technology seeking FDI spillover has apparently boosted the improvement of technologies both in country and west, which presents that “both ends are high, the middle is low” and significantly enhanced trend. The facilitation is gradually strengthened in the east which has the greatest contribution rate, while the inhibition is fade in the central China.

Dissemination Model and Impact Evaluation of Rumor in Microblog
    2016, 37(1): 39-47.
    Abstract ( 1019 )
At present, microblog rumors run rampant and cause great damage to the real society. For the purpose of controlling rumors dissemination on microblog network scientifically, in this research, a directed dissemination model with skepticism and anti-rumor mechanism named SIR-CO is proposed according to the virus dissemination model and the features of rumors dissemination on microblog network. Then, in order to monitor the social impact of microblog rumors, an impact evaluation algorithm of rumor source is proposed. On this basis, use Agent-based modeling and simulation methods to simulate the dissemination of rumors on microblog. Analysis of results lead to conclusions: convincing degree of rumor content, influence degree of nodes and time of interventional inhibition is the significant factor for rumors dissemination and control in microblog; the impact of rumor source, with a final stable state, is related to the number of spread, the number of infected nodes and the distribution of influence degree. Based on the simulation analysis results, it’s recommended that, when controlling microblog rumor dissemination, use the target immunization strategy to prevent rumors spreading out and adopt multipoint side chronic strategy to reduce rumors assimilation.

Do international R&D alliances really promote radical innovation?
    2016, 37(1): 48-57.
    Abstract ( 825 )
To uncover how international R&D alliance affects radical innovation of the alliance enterprise, this paper puts forward a series of hypotheses among alliance type, knowledge pool, alliance network and radical innovation of the alliance enterprise by reviewing relevant documentations. We analyzed 224 alliances composed by 74 Chinese enterprises during 2000-2010 using a negative binomial regression model based on panel data. The results of this study show that R&D collaboration can significantly improve radical innovation but negatively affected by Joint-Venture. Interestingly, knowledge pool can positively affect the radical innovation and moderates the relationship between alliance type and radical innovative performance of the alliance enterprises. Additionally, close network relations are an important factor promoting radical innovation. This study offers a new guidance for the alliance enterprises to promote radical innovative ability.

Research on the Interactive Relationships among the Environment, Energy, R&D and Economic Growth
    2016, 37(1): 58-67.
    Abstract ( 746 )
With the panel data of 31 provinces in China from 1998 to 2012 and through using cointegration equation, PVECM and PVAR model, this paper explored the interactive relationships among environment, energy, R&D and economic growth. The research results indicate: there is of long-term balanced relationships among the environment pollution, energy consumption, R&D and economic growth, and the range of positive adjustment is 0.69% when short-term fluctuations deviates from the long-term equilibrium; At present stage, the improvement of R&D is mainly because of economic growth. Though the improvement of R&D can help curb environmental pollution, it can also lead to the increasing consumption of energy to some extent; energy consumption is an important factor for the economic growth, and it is also a major cause for environment pollution. However, to some extent, the consumption of energy can make positive contribution to the improvement of R&D; Environment pollution presents accumulative effects and path depedence effects, and it has limited effects to economic growth. What’s more, the restructuring effects of it to R&D improvement is weak as well.

Research on the Influence of Cooperative Knowledge Innovation Given by Lose Aversion
    2016, 37(1): 92-100.
    Abstract ( 814 )
it is more important that resource should be invested in cooperative knowledge innovation than knowledge accumulation would be in. some questions should be answered that how lose aversion gives influences on cooperative knowledge innovation and how to decrease these negative influences. The definition of lose is expanded from wealth to resource investment. And knowledge innovation model based on lose aversion is put forward. Then some conclusions are that the willing on knowledge innovation will decrease on the influence of lose aversion and lose aversion will be strength in cooperation instead of weaken. High cost sharing ratio among innovation members is helpful to decrease lose aversion. These conclusions are tested by analysis examples. Zhenjiang Medical Cooperation Platform is introduced as a case of cooperative knowledge innovation in explaining innovation reduction.

Does venture capital investment improve start-ups’ IPO performance ?
    2016, 37(1): 101-109.
    Abstract ( 859 )
Through manually distinguishing venture capital investment and the capital background, and using data of China's GEM firms, we analyze the effect of venture capital investment's entry, involvement degree, and capital background on start-ups' IPO performance. Results show that (1) the entry and involvement degree of venture capital could significantly improve IPO performance; (2) compared with government-background venture capital, the entry and involvement degree of private and foreign-background venture capital have more influences on IPO performance; (3) while government-background venture capital sends investors the “signal” that the start-up is of high quality, it does not really alleviate the asymmetric information and uncertainty of investors' understanding about start-ups' true value. Additionally, syndicated venture capital investment could effectively improve IPO performance.

Cluster Is Good, and Alliance Makes it Better: Network Vicinity, Geographical Proximity and Knowledge Transfer Performance
    2016, 37(1): 128-136.
    Abstract ( 981 )
As the transfer platform of knowledge, strategic alliance which is a kind of expression form of innovation network has gained extensive attention and research gradually. The effect of network structure characteristics on knowledge transfer activities is also influenced by the enterprise geographic space position. This paper takes the Chinese biopharmaceutical industry 1995-2010 strategic alliance data as a sample, using negative binomial regression model, to study the influence of network proximity and geographical proximity on knowledge transfer performance. Because the alliance network structure characteristics can change the flow properties of resources and information in the geographical neighboring enterprises, this paper further studied the influence of geographical proximity on alliance knowledge transfer performance under the regulation of network density .The research results show that geographic proximity between enterprises can promote alliance knowledge transfer significantly, but network proximity didn’t have significantly influence .Higher network density can improve the promoting function of geographical proximity to knowledge transfer. This paper also puts forward some suggestions on the present situation of China's biological pharmaceutical industry strategic alliances.

Exploring the Impact of Advertising and R&D Expenditures on the Brand Equity of New Ventures
    2016, 37(1): 137-144.
    Abstract ( 709 )
Brand equity has become an important competitive resource in the fierce market competition. Both advertising and R&D have important impact on brand equity. New ventures are always faced with the “liability of newness”. Lacking of resources makes them difficult to use the combination of these two differentiation strategies to develop brand equity at the same time. In order to examine how advertising and R&D expenditures influence the brand equity of new ventures at different stage of new ventures, an empirical analysis based on data from the large questionnaire of 1621 new ventures is conducted by using binary logistic regression, and verify the relationships between advertising, R&D and brand equity, The results show that the advertising and R&D expenditures both have a positive effect on brand equity of new ventures. And during the start-up period, R&D has a greater effect on brand equity than advertising. Meanwhile, advertising loses the effect on brand equity of new ventures after obtaining the financing.

Break through “the Paradox of Embeddedness” of Global Production Networks: Tie Diversity, Ambidexterity and Upgrading of Latecomer Firms
    2016, 37(1): 145-152.
    Abstract ( 700 )
Latecomer firms are facing upgrading bottleneck on the value chain as there exists the paradox of embeddedness of Global Production Networks (GPNs). That is, GPNs propels latecomers’ process and product upgrading to promote their present operating efficiency, it will probably hinder latecomers’ function and chain upgrading resulting in undermining their long adaptive capability simultaneously. To break through the paradox, the theoretical mechanism of latecomers constructing ambidexterity through network diversity to realize sustaining upgrading is proposed in the paper through a case study of Haitian Group, a large private firm in China. Finally, latecomers having the strategic intent of actively building ambidexterity, and scheming network of diverse cooperative partner, pattern and function to building ambidexterity are advised for durative upgrading of latecomers in GPNs.

Study of indice screening and weighting method based on the information sensitivity
    2016, 37(1): 153-160.
    Abstract ( 805 )
This paper proposes an indices' screening and weighting method based on the information sensitivity to solve the reasonably indices' screening and weighting problem for the existing research. This paper has two main innovation points. One is multiplying the proportion of variance by the partial derivative each retained principal component sub index, and use their sum to indicate effect degree of this index on the information of the original indicators set. The way of screening indicators is retaining the index for the larger information sensitivity. The indices' accumulated information contents are calculated by means of the information sensitivity screening standard. And then, the indices are screened out based on the size of these. Two is calculating the percent of an index to all indices' information sensitivity, take it as the weights of this index to reflect relative information content. Finally, the proposed method and the existing principal components method are contrastive analyzed by a numerical illustration, on this account the feasibility and validity of the proposed method are illustrated.
