Research on the Spatial- autocorrelation of China’s Government R&D Subsidies

Abstract: Based on the panel data of China‘s 31 provinces during 2002-2011, using the Spatial Econometric methods, the paper studies China's governmental R&D subsidies’ spatial correlation feature, and analyses the factors that influence this spatial-autocorrelation in view of the regional innovation environment .The study has found China governmental R&D subsidies presents a strong spatial-autocorrelation in our study period. In the regional innovation environment variables which influent government R&D subsidies’ spatial-autocorrelation, regional infrastructure environment, financial environment, human resources and system environment has a positive stimulating effect to governmental R&D subsidies, while the impact of the economic development environment for governmental R&D subsidies is not significant. The conclusions of the article provide a useful reference for policy makers.
