Wang Yonggui, Wang Na, Zhao Hongwen
    2014, 35(10): 1-8.
    Abstract ( 1300 )   PDF (1KB) ( 1751 )
Based on the data from 177 Chinese outsourcing firms, this paper investigates the relationship between organizational memory, organizational learning, demand uncertainty and supplier innovative capability by taking the hierarchical regression technique. It explores the differentiated effects of organizational memory and organizational learning on supplier innovation capability. Meanwhile, this paper also examines the moderating role of demand uncertainty in the relationship between organizational memory, organizational learning and supplier innovation capability. The results suggest that the impact of organizational memory on supplier innovation capability appears to be greater than that of organizational learning on supplier innovation capability. Furthermore, it is found that demand uncertainty moderates the relationship between organizational memory and supplier innovation capability positively, while moderates the relationship between organizational learning and supplier innovation capability negatively.

A study on contribution of science and technology inputs to regional economic growth in Xinjiang-Based on improved C-D production function and DEA method
    Liu Yuanyuan, Sun Hui
    2014, 35(10): 26-32.
    Abstract ( 1500 )
The overall contribution of R&D inputs to regional economic growth from 1994 to 2009 in Xinjiang is 4.58% calculated by improved C-D production function, which is lower than the national average of 40.71%. The index systems of contribution of R&D inputs to regional economic growth were built concerning both inputs and outputs. The data envelopment analysis (DEA analysis) was used to evaluate the contribution of investment in science and technology in the 30 provinces. The conclusions are that the overall efficiency of investment in science and technology in Xinjiang is 0.467, lower than the national average, the invalid of technical efficiency and scale efficiency lead to the lower of contribution, and the input-output scale of scientific and technological presents a decreasing trend. Therefore, under the size of the existing investment in science and technology, we should allocate the scientific and technological resources reasonably, improve the efficiency in the use of scientific and technological resources, and make sure the greatest degree of transformation of the science and technology investment to the economic growth.

The impact of industry position, social capital and their interactions on the entrepreneurial willingness
    Yao Yao, Xu Yan
    2014, 35(10): 33-40.
    Abstract ( 1301 )   PDF (1KB) ( 1855 )
Although industry position and social capital are widely recognized by entrepreneurship theory, but they have not been researchedempirically in the context of China's economy. From the perspective of network theory, they respectively reflect the height and breadth in enterprise network system, and play an important role in enterprise innovation. Using the samples from Shanghai and Zhejiang, this paper analyzes how industry position and social capital affect the relationship between entrepreneurial willingness and performance. Because of high cost of social capital and arrogance stemming from industry position, results found that they also have negative effect. Furthermore, the statistics also implies that stronger willingness to innovate, worse overall performance when industry position and social capital got non-balanced development. Thus, their equilibrium is critical to the success of entrepreneurial enterprises. Contrarily, excessive entrepreneurial willingness will not necessarily benefit performance.

Heterogeneity of production technology, carbon dioxide emission and performance lose: An international comparison based on meta-frontier
Wang Qunwei, Zhou Peng, Zhou Dequn
    2014, 35(10): 41-48.
    Abstract ( 1353 )   PDF (1KB) ( 1873 )
Considering the heterogeneity of production technology, this paper proposes a new CO2 emission performance index with meta-frontier and non-radial DEA. The performance lose is also decomposed theoretically. Based on this, the CO2 emission performance in 58 emitters worldwide is measured for the 1995-2007 period. The conclusion includes:(1) The CO2 emission performance is less, when meta-frontier is used as the basis, than that of group frontier. However, it can indicate the most potential to improve performance under the best technology. (2)The average CO2 emission performance of European is better than America and Europe. Technology gap ratio in Asia, Europe and America demonstrate three different trends. (3) Technology gap and ineffective management both result in loss of CO2 emission performance. However, the latter one is obviously higher than the former one on the whole. (4)Though CO2 emission performance has been improved slowly, the potential carbon intensity is only the half of the actual, thus the task of emission reduction is still huge.

Nature of standard-setting alliance: based on comparisons between R&D alliance and patent alliance
    Li Wei
    2014, 35(10): 49-56.
    Abstract ( 1192 )   PDF (1KB) ( 1698 )
Based on literature analysis, standard-setting alliance is compared with other two confusing alliance formations - the R&D alliance and the patent alliance, in order to address the nature of standard-setting alliance as well as its critical features, typical problems and the proper ways to solve these problems. It is pointed out that the standard-setting alliance is an alliance portfolio by R&D alliance and patent alliance in the nature, since it always involves two functions simultaneously known as R&D function and production function. This means there are both similarities and differences between these three kinds of alliances. Based on this finding, the typical research questions which have shared research methods with R&D alliance and patent alliance are distinguished. And, we argue that proprietary research modes for standard-setting alliance's specific questions need to be explored from the aspects of alliance portfolio or network.

The effects of different network structure on airlines competition
    Li Shiping
    2014, 35(10): 57-68.
    Abstract ( 1156 )   PDF (1KB) ( 1454 )
Under the framework of passengers' outside options, multi-market and duopoly competition, we study the effects of different combinations of network structure on airline competition performance by constructing the decision model for selecting airline network structure. The result shows that it is not a simple liner relationship between the competitive performance of airlines and these elements such as the degree of products differences, the external choice cost and the marginal cost, but is related to network structure. Different combinations of network structure of competitive equilibrium correspond to different levels of performance. These conclusions provide theoretical guidance for airlines selectively using different network structures to improve their performances in a dynamic competition based on the different network structures of competitors.

The impact of debt on firms’ innovation investment mode:An empirical research on R&D heterogeneity
Xiao Hailian, Tang Qingquan, Zhou Meihua
    2014, 35(10): 77-85.
    Abstract ( 1401 )   PDF (1KB) ( 1798 )
Financing constraint of innovation is an important topic in investment theory research. Currently, the hottest debate is around the relationship between R&D investment and internal funds, while the external funds constraint has been neglected. Base on heterogeneity, we divide the innovation investments into exploratory innovation and routine innovation using pooled cross-section data and q model, we find that exploratory innovation investment is curtailed by debt financing while routine innovation investment is not. The different sources of debts have different impact on innovation investments: innovation investments are curtailed by bank loan; routine innovation investments are positively related to commercial credits while exploratory innovation investment is not. This paper has important policy implications with respect to firms' R&D strategies and government's R&D subsidies.

    Qiu Gongying, Long Lirong
    2014, 35(10): 86-93.
    Abstract ( 1707 )   PDF (1KB) ( 1874 )
This study tested the influence and mechanisms of authoritarian leadership on speaking up and speaking out, including the mediating role of leader-member exchange (LMX) and team-member exchange (TMX), and the moderating role of guanxi prevalence. Data were collected from 264 employees and their immediate supervisors. Theoretical hypotheses were tested by HLM and the results of HLM analysis revealed that authoritarian leadership had a significant negative influence on both speaking up and speaking out. LMX mediated the relationship between authoritarian leadership and speaking up, and TMX mediated the relationship between authoritarian leadership and speaking out. As a moderator, guanxi prevalence strengthened the positive relation between LMX and speaking up. But the moderating role of guanxi prevalence on the relation between TMX and speaking out was not significant.

Sun Huapeng, Su Jingqin, Cui Miao
    2014, 35(10): 94-100.
    Abstract ( 1459 )   PDF (1KB) ( 1770 )
In both theoretical and practical levels, it is valuable to study the characteristics and disciplines of private enterprises M&As. As existing literature lacks systematic investigation of the drives of Chinese private enterprises cross-border M&As, we use case study as methodology to analyze three Chinese private enterprises cross-border M&As cases to systemically identify the Chinese private enterprises cross-border M&As motivations and build a Four Wheel Drive model. The research finding indicates that the motivations of Chinese private enterprises cross-border M&As include brand internationalization, core technology acquisition, market share expansion, and international business experience acquisition. Finally, we compare our research findings with a classic study of western enterprises cross-border M&As motivations. It indicates that the heterogeneous motivations of Chinese private enterprise arecomposed of three factors - brand internationalization, core technology acquisition, and international business experience acquisition.

Hu Saiquan, Zhan Zhengmao, Qian Yue, Liu Xi
    2014, 35(10): 107-113.
    Abstract ( 1418 )   PDF (1KB) ( 1512 )
The entrepreneurial orientation is a comprehensive reflection of the enterprises whether they are willing to keep innovation, take risks and take pre-actions. In this paper, we discovered the emergence of entrepreneurial orientation is related to the innovative culture and strategic capability. By analyzing the data coming from 117 domestic enterprises and utilizing multiple regression analysis, this paper found out that innovative culture and strategic capability may influence directly entrepreneurial orientation for the reason that innovative culture emphasizes the stronger willingness to innovate and to open, that is, it isinnovative culture that promotes more innovative information, ideas and risk-taking. On the other hand, strategic capability emphasizes collecting external information and strengthening internal communication, which is beneficial to realizing pre-acting and enhancing the confidence of positive competition. In addition, it was also found out that innovative culture may impact indirectly the enterprises' entrepreneurial orientation through strategic capability, which is a mediating variable between innovative culture and entrepreneurial orientation.

Comparative study on the patent examination quality control mechanism of PPH and PCT-PPH
    Zheng Xuanlv
    2014, 35(10): 114-120.
    Abstract ( 1381 )   PDF (1KB) ( 1808 )
This paper studies the patent examination quality control mechanism of PPH and PCT-PPH respectively, and compares the patent examination quality control mechanism of PPH with that of PCT-PPH. Compared with PPH, the patent examination quality control mechanism of PCT-PPH not only will not exert too much cost of risks and information researching on the applications, but also is more likely to eliminate the influence that patent system differentiation brought to examination quality. Therefore, PCT-PPH can be more effective to promote applicant participation rate of international patent examination information sharing.

    2014, 35(10): 136-143.
    Abstract ( 1257 )   PDF (1KB) ( 1766 )
Based on 2000-2010 provincial panel data of China, the paper studies the relationships between large and medium-sized industrial enterprises in technical innovation and University R&D investment of technology, agriculture and medicine. The model results show that University R&D investment promote both enterprise innovation ability and innovation benefits. And the influences exist spillover effect in the geographical space and technological space. Technological neighbors can produce positive effect on enterprise innovation ability and innovation benefits of the regional enterprises. But the geospatial overflow appears the opposite effect in innovation ability and innovation benefits:Geographic neighbors R&D investment can promote the region's patented innovations, but it is not conducive to the new product innovation as the presence of the new product market competition.

Optimization of R&D project partner selection for complex product systems
    Shou Yongyi, Song Chunjiang
    2014, 35(10): 144-149.
    Abstract ( 1229 )   PDF (1KB) ( 1790 )
Partner selection is one of the critical success factors of a complex product system (CoPS) R&D project. Factors influencing partner selection in the current literature were summarized and four factors were selected for consequent analysis, namely expenditure, time, risk and synergies among partners. A multi-objective integer programming model was proposed to formulate the decision-making process of partner selection. The objective is to search for an optimal combination of partners for sub-projects in order to reduce the risk of project failure and to minimize the overall project cost and tardiness penalty. A genetic algorithm was proposed to solve the mathematical model. An example was adopted and the computational results showed that the proposed model and the genetic algorithm are effective in selecting rational partners for CoPS projects.
