Abstract: Based on the panel data of 106 listed Chinese manufacturing firms during 2007-2010, and using random-effects GLS model, we discuss the relationship between the related technological diversity, dynamics of industrial technology and ambidexterity of exploratory and exploitative innovations. The results of research show that, there is an inverted U-shaped relationship between the related technological diversity and ambidexterity of exploratory and exploitative innovations, and this relationship is significantly and positively affected by dynamics of industrial technology. Therefore, in order to maximize ambidexterity of exploratory and exploitative innovations, firms should keep a proper level of the related technological diversity.

Key words: the related technological diversity, ambidexterity of exploratory and exploitative innovations, dynamics of industrial technology
