    Li Fei, Chen Yan
    2018, 39(12): 18-29.
    Abstract ( 321 )
Using a sample of technological cross-border M&As of Chinese listed firms, and the method of event-study and multiple regression model, this paper empirically tests the relationship between complementary resource and innovation performance of acquiring firm and the moderate effect of target autonomy. It is found that complementary resource has a positive relationship with technology innovation; target autonomy plays a positive moderating role. We further examine the mechanism of Chinese comprehensive competitive advantage and found that the use of market scale advantage strengthens the moderating role while the effect is more significant in state-owned enterprises; Seeking overseas technological advantage weakens the moderating role; Seeking overseas brand advantages by manufacturing and private enterprises strengthens the moderating role. The conclusion breaks through the ownership advantages of established theories. It provides a theoretical basis for Chinese firms to improve innovation by choosing appropriate cross-border M&A, optimizing the integration of complementary resources and using Chinese competitive advantage.

Hu Baoliang, Zhao Tianya, Yan Shuai
    2018, 39(12): 37-44.
    Abstract ( 286 )
This paper aims to explore how top management team (TMT) behavioral integration affects business model innovation through the mediating role of boundary-spanning search. Therefore, the hypotheses of the relationship among TMT behavioral integration, boundary-spanning search, and business model innovation are proposed, and these hypotheses are tested by using hierarchical regression analysis with data collected from 177 firms. The results show that TMT behavioral integration affects business model innovation positively; supply-side search, demand-side search, and spatial boundary-spanning search affects business model innovation positively. The results also show that TMT behavioral integration affect business model innovation through the mediating role of supply-side search, demand-side search, as well as spatial boundary-spanning search. This study contributes to developing the theory of the antecedents of business model innovation and expanding the theory of the relationship between TMT and business model innovation. This study has implications for TMT to advance business model innovation and enhance firm performance.

Environmental regulation and innovation in atmospheric science and technology by taking SO2 emission abatement technology as an example
    Lin Ling,Zhao Zijian,Cao Congli
    2018, 39(12): 45-52.
    Abstract ( 237 )
Theoretically, weak Porter Hypothesis involves dual externalities including negative externality of pollution and positive externality of scientific and technological innovation. Environmental regulation should be combined with protection of intellectual property to completely solve the dual externalities, but the protection of intellectual property has not been paid enough attention in practice. Taking SO2 emission abatement technology as an example, this paper collects provincial data during 2000-2013, and adopts fixed effect model to examine the effect of intellectual property protection on weak Porter Hypothesis. The results show that when intellectual property protection is weak, environmental regulation has a negative impact on innovation in atmospheric science and technology. When intellectual property protection level exceeds a certain threshold, environmental regulation begins to have a positive impact on the innovation, and weak Porter Hypothesis is established. Moreover, cross effect of environmental regulation and intellectual property protection on the innovation commonly appears in firms rather than universities or individuals.

An empirical study of the effect of contract completeness on tacit knowledge acquisition
Wang Longwei, Song Meige, Li Xiaodong
    2018, 39(12): 53-60.
    Abstract ( 238 )
In toady’s competitive markets, tacit knowledge has become an important source of competitive advantage for firms. Building on TCT theory, this study investigates the effect of contractual completeness on the acquisition of tacit knowledge, and the moderating role of competition intensity and procedural fairness. Results from a sample of 196 R&D alliances in China demonstrate that contractual completeness has an inverted U-shaped relationship with acquisition of tacit knowledge. In addition, this study finds that the inverted U-shaped relationship between contractual completeness and tacit knowledge acquisition is weaker when competition intensity is high, while the impact of contractual completeness on tacit knowledge acquisition is not influenced by procedural fairness.

Innovation, social responsibility and overseas image of products—An empirical study of the emerging markets in the world
    Zhang Sixue, Lin Hanchuan
    2018, 39(12): 69-77.
    Abstract ( 241 )
In order to improve overseas image of Chinese products in developing countries, stimulate innovation or tag on corporate social responsibility, which one is more important? This empirical study, based on a survey from six countries in central Asian and 302 foreign consumers, examines the primary path and strategic move to improve Chinese products’ image using multiple mediator models. We found that overseas image of Chinese products was significantly associated with consumer orientation in Central Asian. In addition, technology-based innovation and market-based innovation partial mediated the relationships between consumer orientation and overseas product image. Furthermore, perceived corporate social responsibility was also an important specific mediator between them. We also found that these three mediators had the same important role in improving image of Chinese products in developing countries, which was different from conclusion that innovation was prior to corporate social responsibility in other regions. It illustrates a direct and important strategic and practical significance for implementing "go global" strategies in developing countries.

Measurement and decomposition of cities’ innovation spatial spillovers in China
    Cheng Kaiming, Zhang Yating
    2018, 39(12): 86-94.
    Abstract ( 596 )
Cities create good environments for the generation and diffusion of innovation because they can gather people with different talents, education, culture and language. Based on the panel data of 272 prefecture level cities from 2009 to 2012, spatial autocorrelation of cities’ innovation is analyzed by Moran’s I index. Then cities’ innovation spillover effect is measured through spatial weight matrix based on exponential decay and Spatial Durbin Model(SDM). And the direct effect and indirect effect of each independent variable on the dependent are decomposed by partial derivative method. The relationship of spillovers effect and geographic distance in China and three regions are explored. Results show that innovations in cities have positively significant spillovers effect and it is robust for other two spatial weight matrixes and different regions. The expenditure for R&D, scientific research personnel, economic development and foreign direct investment have positive effect on innovation. Total effect, direct effect and indirect effect of the expenditure for R&D and per capita GDP are obvious. Spillovers effect of total cities is positive for the geographic distance from 150km to 1000km. And it reaches the maximum at 650km. Spillovers effect of east, middle and west region reach the max value at 150km, 550km and 750km.

    Liu Zhen, Liu Bo
    2018, 39(12): 95-102.
    Abstract ( 268 )
Based on the agency theory and innovation theory, we analyze the effect of ownership concentration on independent innovation investment in high-tech enterprises. Taking A-share listed high-tech enterprises in China as a sample, using simultaneous-equation models and three-stage least-squares method, this papers empirically analyses the relationships among ownership concentration, managerial compensation package and independent innovation investment in enterprises of different control rights. The research results indicate that: (1) in state-owned high-tech enterprises, the higher the ownership concentration, the higher the managerial monetary compensation and the lower the equity compensation, and lower equity compensation further induces manager to raise monetary compensation; while in non-state-owned high-tech enterprises, the higher the ownership concentration, the lower the managerial monetary compensation and the higher the equity compensation, and higher equity compensation further strengthens the managerial power to raise monetary compensation. (2) In state-owned high-tech enterprises, increasing monetary compensation will induce managers to reduce the independent innovation investment, but in non-state-owned high-tech enterprise, increasing monetary compensation will encourage managers to increase the independent innovation investment; in both the state-owned and non-state-owned high-tech enterprises, the managers' equity compensation has an "N-type" impact relationship on independent innovation investment.

    Xu Xixiong, Gan Weiyu
    2018, 39(12): 131-140.
    Abstract ( 204 )
Hereditary succession and governance transformation are great puzzles to hinder the development of Chinese family firms, and also hot topics of academic scholars. Based on the theory of allocation of control rights, this paper builds a model to explore the impact of law institutions, manager market and corporate technological capability on the choice and evolution of governance models of family firms, and then makes an empirical test using samples of Chinese family holding enterprises. The results show that, both law institutions and manager market in macro-level and technological capability in micro-level play great role on governance transformation of family firms. Specifically, founders tend to transfer control rights to professional managers with the improvement of law institutions and manager market; otherwise they prefer to descendant succession and implosive family governance. In addition, the dependence of governance transformation on institutional environments reduces with the increasing of technological capability.

    2018, 39(12): 141-151.
    Abstract ( 237 )
Combined with the location of embedding conditions and entrepreneurship, this paper takes the agricultural enterprises as the research object, utilizing field research data to conduct an empirical research on the influence Mechanism of agricultural enterprises network competence and competitiveness by structural equation modeling method. The results show that the two dimensions of network competence, namely, vision ability and construction ability, have a strong positive impact on the competitiveness of enterprises. Entrepreneurship acts as intermediaries between network capacity vision and synergistic dimension and enterprise competitiveness. The location embedding condition can enhance the positive influence of the network vision ability and the cooperative ability on the entrepreneurship, and reduce the positive influence of the network construction ability on the entrepreneurship. The location embedding condition promotes the competitiveness of the enterprise through the network coordination ability, while it has no adjustment effect on the relationship between the entrepreneurship and the enterprise's competitiveness. The location embedding condition influences the agricultural enterprise's competitiveness from the natural aspect, however, how to use the social network competence need to play the initiatives of entrepreneurs.

Influence of third party intervention on relationship repair after channel conflict
    Xie Qinghong1, Wang Jiaxin1, Jiang Zhuzhong2
    2018, 39(12): 162-170.
    Abstract ( 213 )
Effective conflict management can alleviate the negative impact of channel conflict on the quality of the relationship, and therefore is conducive to repair the relationship between two channel parties. Extant literature on the relationship repair between channel members focus on the self repair of conflict parties under dyadic structure.Under the circumstance that the channel relationship in the network society has evolved from dualism to pluralism, third party intervention in conflict management is not only necessary but also inevitable. Based on social balance theory and the contingency model of third party intervention, this article explores the impact of the third party intervention on relationship repair between two parties after the channel conflict; and the type of intervention modes(process intervention and outcome intervention) should be adopted in differnet conflict situations(emotional conflict and cognitive conflict). In this study, we collect 221 valid samples through 2 x 2 scenario simulation experiments. Using SPSS 23, we find that: the third party intervention after channel conflict has a significant positive effect on the channel relationship repair; intervention mode and conflict type have a significant interaction effect. This paper broadens the subject of channel conflict management, enriches the theory and literature of channel relationship repair, and provides new ideas for channel members to effectively repair the relationship after channel conflict.
