A study on the threshold effect of reverse technology spillovers from OFDIbased on the spatial heterogeneity hypothesis
    Shen Neng, Zhao Zengyao
    2013, 34(12): 1-7.
    Abstract ( 2497 )
The reverse technology spillover effect of the outward foreign direct investment (OFDI) to the technological progress of the home country is a relatively new topic of the international economics and it is also one of the important expectations for which the Chinese government launched the‘going out'strategy. The paper applies the nonlinear threshold model to study empirically the reverse technology spillover effect of China's OFDI and the impact of technology gap between China and the world, the OFDI scale and other variables on it based on the inter-provincial panel data from 2003~2009.The results show that under the open economy condition, the reverse technology spillovers effect of China's OFDI really exists, but there is a large difference in reverse technology spillover among regions of China, which is conditioned by the OFDI scale and technology gap. The OFDI scale and technology gap separately has a single and dual-threshold effect. Therefore, according to the imbalance of regional development in China, the government should adopt different policies to achieve the reverse technology spillovers effect.

Studies on mechanism by which manufacturing enterprises interact with knowledge-intensivebusiness services to improve operational performance
    Zhou Dan, Wei Jiang
    2013, 34(12): 8-16.
    Abstract ( 1646 )
Based on the perspective of resource-based view, resource dependence theory and knowledge-intensive view, this paper analyses the mechanism and path by which manufacturing enterprises interact with the knowledge-intensive business services (KIBS) to influence the operational performance of manufacturing enterprises. Through the multiple linear regression analysis and the structural equation model analysis, we get three conclusions: firstly, the resource recombination and resource reallocation have the mediating effect between the manufacturing enterprises-KIBS interaction and operational performance; secondly, resource recombination has a bigger mediating effect than resource reallocation when manufacturing enterprises-KIBS interaction belongs to the complementary interaction mode; and thirdly, resource reallocation has a bigger mediating effect than resource recombination when manufacturing enterprises-KIBS interaction belongs to the supplementary interaction mode. The theoretical contribution of this paper is to explore the mechanism on how resource can influence competitive advantage, and to confirm the internal relationship among manufacturing enterprises-KIBS interaction, resource recombination, resource reallocation and operational performance. And the practical implication is that how manufacturing enterprises can promote their resource recombination and resource reallocation through interaction with KIBS, thus improving their operational performance.

    2013, 34(12): 26-38.
    Abstract ( 1806 )
In the general trend of the port low-carbon transition, the loan for the port logistics financial inventory pledge has been developing rapidly in practice and it is very urgent how to integrate the low-carbon port constraint factors in the decision making of the port logistics inventory pledge loans so as to promote indirectly the transformation and upgrading of the port. In this study, the port pledge loan interest rate decision-making theory in the low-carbon transition was deeply studied, based on the proposed default option-adjusted spreads, low-carbon adjustment spreads and pledge risk control principles, and the strong liquidity inventories of low-carbon port logistics pledge loan interest rate decision model was established, and derive the pledge loan optimal rate under the scenario of default option-adjusted spreads and low-carbon adjustment spreads. At the same time, the pledge price, market interest rate and carbon emission control cost and various parameters which affect the pledge loan optimal rate formula are derived. Finally, the actual data of a certain port was used to perform sensitivity analysis calculations to verify the model's feasibility and usability.

Research on Identifying Organizational Knowledge Gap
Qiu Jiangnan, Wu Meijun, Nian Chuangling
    2013, 34(12): 85-93.
    Abstract ( 1932 )
Identifying the knowledge gap in an organization is a prerequisite for the organization to make integrated innovations, but the existing studies on the methods of identifying the organizational knowledge gap are rarely concerned with the internal structural characteristics of the organizational knowledge. Therefore, the concept of organizational knowledge structure is introduced in this paper and a method to identify the organizational knowledge gaps is proposed from the internal relationship of the organizational knowledge. Firstly, the method adopts the tree-shaped structure to indicate the organizational knowledge structures and builds up the knowledge structures of knowledge needs and knowledge reserves. Then it uses the tree matching algorithm to match the knowledge structures of knowledge needs and knowledge reserves to identify the organizational knowledge gaps. Finally, the method is tested on the background of the LED patents. The test results show that the method is effective in not only identifying accurately the knowledge which the organization lacks currently and the hierarchical relationship among different knowledge, but also helping the organization develop accurately and rapidly the strategies for filling the knowledge gap.

Influencing mechanism of demographic traits of entrepreneurs on financing constraints of SMEs
    Chen Xiaohong, Gao Yangjie
    2013, 34(12): 110-119.
    Abstract ( 1854 )
Based on the upper echelons theory, the research analyzes the effect of demographic traits of entrepreneurs on financing constraints of SMEs by means of the hierarchical regression method and with samples of 530 Chinese listed SMEs in 2010. The results show that different demographic traits of entrepreneurs have different effects on the financing constraints of SMEs. Specifically, the education background and professional title of entrepreneurs have a positive impact on easing the financing constraints of SMEs, meanwhile, the age and tenure of entrepreneurs have a significant U-shaped impact on the financing constraints of SMEs, but women entrepreneurs have a negative impact in alleviating such constraints. The research not only enriches the theories between demographic traits of entrepreneurs and financing constraints of SMEs, but also provides a practical support for SMEs in China to ease financing constraints.

The effect of logistics on the industry’s efficiency and its channels in China
    Liang Hongyan, Wang Jian
    2013, 34(12): 120-126.
    Abstract ( 1582 )
This paper analyzes theoretically the moderating effects of geographic distance, policy environment, firms' scale and informationization level on the operational mechanism by which the logistics will improve the industrial efficiency. Then, we test the theoretical deduction hypotheses using the panel data for 190 Mainland China cities from 2005 to 2009 and by means of the SFA model. The results show that, firstly, on the entire country level, the logistics industry has, through specialization and scale economy, helped promote the industry's efficiency, while, on the regional level, the low development level of the regional logistics acts as a deterrent to the improvement of its efficiency; secondly, the geographic distance between the logistics industry and the industrial enterprises is negatively related to the promoting effect of the logistics on the industrial efficiency, and improving the logistics' agglomeration can strengthen its promoting effect on the industrial efficiency; and thirdly, improving the policy environment, strengthening the firms' scale and enhancing the informationization level could improve the promoting effect of logistics on the industrial efficiency.

Impact of R&D alliance network structure on the competitive advantage of highand new technology enterprises
    Zhao Hongmei, Wang Hongqi
    2013, 34(12): 143-152.
    Abstract ( 1796 )
By introducing the open innovation ability as an intermediary variable, this paper constructs a theoretical model for the relationship between the competitive advantage of high and new technology enterprises and the structure properties of R&D alliance network including its size, density and cohesion subgroups. Taking as examples the high and new technology enterprises in Nankang Software Park in Taiwan and Ministry of Economic Affairs in Taiwan, an empirical study was made by means of the structural equation model. The results show that the R&D alliance network size and density have a significantly positive impact on the competitive advantage of the high and new technology enterprises through the intermediary variables of the open innovation ability, while the cohesion subgroup of R&D alliance network has not a significantly positive impact on the competitive advantage of the high and new technology enterprises. The study makes up for some inadequacies of previous researches, and it can provide the theoretical support for the high and new technology enterprises to acquire effectively resources in the R&D alliance network.
