Effect of equity incentive with heterogeneous design motivation on product innovation capability
Yang Huihui, Xu Jialin, Pan Fei, Ma Erqiang
    2018, 39(10): 1-11.
    Abstract ( 332 )
After clarifying the effect mechanism of managerial equity incentive on the product innovation ability, we using the case study of Shanghai Jahwa, analyze the effect of the power game between controlling shareholders and management on the motivation of managerial equity incentive contract design, and the effect of different design motivation on the product innovation ability. We find that, the problem of insider control caused by either the management or the controlling shareholders will make the managerial equity incentive contract as the tool for self-interest insider to seek private gains, and this will reduce the investment of product innovation, in turn to damage the transforming ability of product innovation to the profitability. The implementation of equity incentive only in the environment of controlling shareholders to play a monitoring role can improve the product innovation investment and the transforming ability of product innovation to the profitability.

    Abstract ( 318 )
This paper first established a theoretical framework to describe the mechanism of innovation & entrepreneurship policy on micro-entrepreneurship behavior. Based on this framework, we use 580 observation samples from 58 countries between the period of 2007-2016 to conduct empirical tests, which verified the moderate effect of innovation & entrepreneurship policy on early-stage entrepreneurial behavior. The results show that, first of all, venture capital and perceived entrepreneurial opportunities have significant positive impact on early-stage entrepreneurial behavior. Secondly, the innovation & entrepreneurship policy does not directly affect entrepreneurial activities, but plays an important moderate role by increasing the positive impact of venture capital and entrepreneurial opportunities on early-stage entrepreneurial behavior. Last but not least, the different developing stage of the countries, the innovation & entrepreneurship culture and the related infrastructure also played important roles in the early stage of entrepreneurial behavior in the whole society. The research results helps to enrich the contents of the research on entrepreneurship behavior and also provides a reference for making policy decisions on innovation and entrepreneurship based on the characteristics of entrepreneurship.

    Zhu Chen, Yang Ye
    2018, 39(10): 61-69.
    Abstract ( 265 )
Abstract: Based on the theory of transaction cost and evolutionary game, this study explores the induced mechanism of research and development for local enterprises and multinational companies. We use the micro-survey data of World Bank in 2012, which investigate the operating environment of Chinese enterprises and using a linear probability model to explore the specific role of cost factor in cooperative research and development. After collecting data from 1491 manufacturing enterprises, this study examines the effect of the two cost factors in the R & D cooperation of local enterprises and multinational companies for empirical test, the empirical results show that both default costs and communication costs have a negative impact on cooperative R & D. The higher the loss of the multinational company and the local enterprise due to the breach of each other, the lower the probability of the cooperative research and development. The higher the cost of the communication between the multinational company and the local enterprise, the lower the probability of the cooperative research and development. The conclusion not only enriches the theory of cooperative R & D, but also helps to guide local enterprises to cooperate with multinational companies in response to the complex and volatile market demand.

A research on the evolution and impact of knowledge rigidity in firms based on system dynamics
    Zhou Zhong, Chen Zhigao
    2018, 39(10): 159-167.
    Abstract ( 260 )
The reciprocal feedback mechanisms between the knowledge rigidity and the enterprise internal activities, as well as the differences between firms in the dynamic trend of rigidity formation and evolution, are key issues to recognize and respond to this knowledge dependence phenomenon. The case of specific enterprise’s relying on existing business process in the information system is discussed in detail. Based on theoretical analysis of the formation and impact of knowledge rigidity, also the knowledge change decision in firms, this paper proposes a system dynamics model of the knowledge rigidity through the causal analysis of critical factors and the setting of functions and parameters. Simulation results of multi scenarios show that the knowledge rigidity phenomenon appears three stages in a single cycle. It emerges gradually at early stage, being stable continuously at mid-term and drops quickly at later stage. The utility reinforcing factor promotes the growth of rigidity, while external environmental factors are triggers of rigidity mutation. To enterprise with low base value of rigidity and high sense of change consciousness, its rigidity shows faster growth and deeper influence, but the duration is shorter. On the other hand, knowledge are replaced frequently, while more utilities are obtained. Firms should understand the chain reaction of the impact of knowledge rigidity caused by specific decision behavior. Then firms can control their over-dependence on existing knowledge by enhancing change consciousness or monitoring utility expectations, which help achieve rapid response to external environment changes.
