The comparative analysis on wind energy industry based on the multi-level perspective theory
Li Xiaofen, Feng Haihong, Wang Shengguang
    2013, (7): 17-23.
    Abstract ( 1587 )   PDF (1281KB) ( 2460 )
Based on Multi-Level Perspective (MLP) theory and the actor-network perspective, the evolutionary of Denmark, German, and China’s wind energy industries is analyzed in order to explore the mechanism of the industry competitiveness. Multi-case comparative studies stimulate the development of MLP theory. The analysis indicates that the MLP models for developed and developing countries are quite different: the former starts from the disruptive innovation in niche market; while the later starts from the introduction, digestion, and absorptive of the existing technologies, thus the evolutionary path of industry is also not the same. It is concluded that the management system directly affects the technological innovation and industrial development modes; the co-evolutionary of technology, market, and institution is the key element affecting the competitiveness difference of these three countries’ industries. Therefore, it is quite important to promote the widest participation of multi-agent and the diversity of technology innovation.

R&D investment, institutional investor, and corporation earning management
    Fan Haifeng, Hu Yuming
    2013, (7): 24-30.
    Abstract ( 1953 )   PDF (833KB) ( 2796 )
Based on the R&D output data of manufacturing firms during the period of 2006-2009, by using LOGIT model, an empirical research involving the impact of institutional investors and mutual fund shareholders on company earning management through cutting R&D expenditure is conducted. The results show that as to companies with minor gains or losses, cutting R&D expenditure has become an important means of earning management, entire institutional investors and mutual fund shareholders in China are significantly negative correlated with earning management behavior of the companies. In addition, following conclusion is also empirically verified: when institutional investors hold higher proportion of shares, they could play an effective monitoring role in earning management behavior of both state-owned holding companies and non-state-owned holding companies; however when the proportion of holding shares is lower, their monitoring role to earning management behavior for state-owned holding companies is significantly lower than that for non-state-owned holding companies

The influential factors of structural hole filling within inventor networks
Sun Xiaoming, Cui Wentian, Dong Jinwei
    2013, (7): 31-38,44.
    Abstract ( 2032 )   PDF (1557KB) ( 2173 )
The high innovation performance of inventors could be largely attributed to the richness of structural holes within their collaborative networks. This argument has been widely confirmed in western culture featured by individualism. However, some recent research suggests that filling structural holes are much more beneficial to Chinese inventors embedded in a collective and Confucian culture. Based on the patent data of 13 Chinese high-tech enterprises, how the difference of network structures (social capital) and inventors’ characteristics (labor capital) affects the filling of structural holes between teams is studied. Results indicate that differences of team centrality and team status lead to a significant and positive effect on the filling of structural holes. Furthermore, the results also show that there is an inverted-U relationship between the scope difference of team knowledge and the filling of structural holes.

The independent innovation performance of Chinese industries
    Xiang Benwu
    2013, (7): 39-44.
    Abstract ( 1635 )   PDF (888KB) ( 2390 )
The performance of independent innovation in Chinese industries is explored by constructing a model of trans-log production function, and taking advantage of the penal data from the year of 1999 to 2008, covering 33 industries in China. The main findings are as follows: (1) as a whole, the elasticity of R&D capital stock on yield for Chinese large and middle-sized industrial enterprises is very low; (2) there is a significant elasticity differences among 33 industries; (3) although the promoting effect of independent innovation on industry growth is weak, the improving trend of the effect gradually reveals itself. Furthermore, some political connotations about these conclusions are proposed.

The influence of financial development and FDI on regional innovation capability
Ran Guanghe, Xu Kun, Lu Zhaoyang
    2013, (7): 45-52.
    Abstract ( 1792 )   PDF (893KB) ( 2337 )
Taken financial development as a threshold variable, the influence of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) on regional innovation capability has been analyzed by using the panel threshold model with panel data of 29 provincial level units from the year of 1993 to 2009. The results are that the structure and the efficiency of financial development could promote regional innovation capability; however the influence of its scale is insignificant. At the same time, there is a double threshold effect between them, and once the regional financial development passes the threshold, the former will promote the latter; what’s more, the difference between the different provincial level units is quite significant. And then, some countermeasures are submitted.

Zhang Tongbin, Wang Qian, Liu Min
    2013, (7): 53-60.
    Abstract ( 1623 )   PDF (1019KB) ( 2563 )
The agglomeration of high-tech industrial park is measured by calculating the location entropy and the spatial characters of high-tech industrial park agglomeration are analyzed by examining spatial correlation. The results show that the high-tech industrial park agglomerations in the different areas of China are highly correlated in space and the correlation degree weakens as the distance increases. In order to further explore the influence factors of high-tech industrial park agglomeration formation, the spatial econometric models are built to study the formation mechanism of the agglomeration. Based on the model, the estimation results indicate that traditional economic geography theory is unable to interpret the agglomeration phenomenon of high-tech industry park and the human capital is the most important factor for the agglomeration formation.

The co-opetition relationship of LED manufacturers based on patent information analysis
    Yuan Xiaodong, Chen Jing
    2013, (7): 78-86.
    Abstract ( 1786 )   PDF (1277KB) ( 2671 )
Nichia, Toyoda Gosei, Cree, Osram, and Philips represent the highest level of LED, their development trends have a significant impact on the industry. Patent concentration of LED industry becomes increasingly lower. Therefore, the relationships among five manufacturers are changed into a co-opetition relation which is win-win situation for them. The heterogeneity and interdependence of technical resources for the top five manufacturers have led to technology complementary, which is the prerequisite of co-opetition formation. Chinese LED manufacturers should access the cross-licensing relationships of the top five vendors. Moreover, a closed interdependence co-operation network should be built in order to improve the capability of market control and resilience.

The protection scope of intellectual property right, enterprise R&D investment, and social welfare
    Zhao Xumei
    2013, (7): 87-92.
    Abstract ( 1915 )   PDF (922KB) ( 2272 )
The protection scope of IPR is the primary policy tool for stimulating innovative enterprises to invest in R&D. It exerts an influence on the IPR transaction between transferor and transferee enterprises by affecting the acquisition cost and profitability of IPR. A multi-stage game model of two enterprises with asymmetrical abilities is built and general balanced analysis is conducted. Results show that expanding protection scope of IPR is able to raise enterprise income and stimulate enterprises to invest more on R&D only if the initial R&D investment reaches at a certain scale. Under the established R&D investment, expanding IPR protection scope margin would increase the cost of technology transfer, boosting profit for the transferor, meanwhile decreasing profit for the transferee and bringing the negative influence on social welfare. The negative side effect would be mitigated only after the distensible effect of R&D investment is achieved. Therefore, while expanding the protection scope of IPR, the auxiliary measures, such as preferential taxation policy for enterprise R&D investment and IPR trade promotion among enterprises, should also be introduced.

The affective mechanism of learning-orientated strategy based on IT capability to performance
Cui Yu, Jiao Hao, Zhang Yang
    2013, (7): 93-100.
    Abstract ( 1678 )   PDF (848KB) ( 2536 )
As environments become increasingly complex, the theory of dynamic capabilities considers that a firm could adopt learning-orientated strategy for performance sustainability. However, majority researches neglect the mediative path and affective mechanism in the relationship between learning-orientated strategy and performance. By reviewing relevant literature, IT capability is considered as a mediator variable, and then the relationship between learning-orientated strategy and performance is built and testified. On the basis of a large-scale questionnaire investigation and empirical research using the software of SPSS, it is concluded that IT capability partially plays the mediative role between learning-orientated strategy and performance. Moreover, the learning-orientated strategy has a significantly positive effect on IT capability and organizational performance. Each aspect of IT capability has a positive effect on organizational performance with different degree. The findings indicate that business firms should implement learning-orientated strategy inside of organization to build IT capability, to push knowledge dissemination and absorption, to differentiate the product in response to customer needs, and finally to improve and raise organizational performance

Chen Hao, Wang Xiaohong, Zhang Baosheng
    2013, (7): 101-111.
    Abstract ( 1698 )   PDF (1738KB) ( 1865 )
By selecting window width from one to five, window analysis model is used to carry out a dynamic study on scientific research efficiencies at the universities in different provinces of China during the period of 2003-2007. By comparing the results of different window widths, Technical Efficiency (TE), and pure technical efficiency (PE) at the universities in different provinces of China are decrease and Scale Efficiency(SE) is irregularly varied with the increase of window widths. Scientific research efficiencies have different sensibility to the window width in different years. With the different selection of window widths, scholars would obtain radical different conclusions on the long term changing trend of TE, PE, and SE. For the problem how to determine the optimal window width, a new analysis method is thieoritacally proposed, the study determines the optimal window width, a more researnoable window analysis model that is suitable to the dynamic analysis on scientific research efficiencies at the universities of China is built. The dynamic results are compared with the results based on conventional DEA models, and great variances between two of them are found, it is further proved that setting up a window analysis model with an optimal window width to conduct a dynamic study is necessary and the results further accord with the reality of scientific research activities.

    Abstract ( 1452 )   PDF (854KB) ( 2386 )
Recently, the rapid development of knowledge economy has put forward higher demand on how to improve the learning effectiveness. As a new style of learning, multi-team learning is rapidly developing. However the study on multi-team learning is quite rare and the relation research between multi-team learning and effectiveness becomes an emerging topic. The relative theories of multi-team learning are discussed, and the concept of multi-team learning is presented and studied by using psychology experiment method. By taking 216 students as subjects, the experiment is conducted to test the relationship between multi-team learning and effectiveness by using double-blind method on the network platform of national bilingual teaching demonstration course organizational behavior with 216 students as subjects. The results indicate that firstly, the divergence of effectiveness is significant between multi-team learning and non-multi-team learning; secondly, the participation of the multi-team learning based on Multi-Team System (MTS) affects the effectiveness remarkably; thirdly, as a supplementary means of learning, network has an obvious effect on learning effectiveness. To sum up, the research results provide the new ways and paths to raise the learning effectiveness.

Convergence mechanism of energy efficiency for Chinese secondary industry
Zhang Zongyi, Guo Xiaoming, Kang Jijun
    2013, (7): 119-126.
    Abstract ( 1454 )   PDF (902KB) ( 2495 )
Based on the theory of economical growth convergence, the model of theoretical energy efficiency convergence mechanism is deduced, and the model is tested by using China’s panel data for the secondary industry from the year of 1995 to 2009, it is found that with the GDP per labor difference between coastal and inland areas in the secondary industry converges, the energy efficiency difference for the secondary industry between coastal and inland areas is also convergence, although the convergence speed of energy efficiency is slower. It is also concluded that comparing with the coastal areas, the energy efficiency gap for the provinces located right in the middle region of inland area as the engine for inland economic growth gradually becomes larger. The convergence or divergence is mostly driven by the differences of internal S&T investment and human capital investment for secondary industry.

    2013, (7): 127-135.
    Abstract ( 1746 )   PDF (1451KB) ( 2262 )
A fuzzy multi-criteria decision making method based on intuition trapezoidal fuzzy number and Choquet integral is proposed and the method is further used to the evaluation of venture investment projects. Intuition trapezoidal fuzzy number is introduced to present the expert preference information, Choquet integral is used to integrate the decision matrixes from different experts, and the fuzzy TOPSIS method is applied to construct the decision model; as a result, fuzzy criteria value and ideal solution value are obtained. And then, the distance formula of fuzzy number is used to evaluate the different values between these criteria solutions and ideal solutions, resulted in the pro and con rank of different programs. In the empirical study, taking five venture investment enterprises in the high-level technology development zone as the research subject, the expert evaluation results involving their technical level, market size, product innovation, industry environmental, and government support degree are integrated with intuition trapezoidal fuzzy number. Accordingly, the comprehensive rank based on these five aspects is obtained. With such empirical study, the practicality and feasibility of the built model is further confirmed.

    Zhang Zhiguang, Cai Jianfeng
    2013, (7): 154-160.
    Abstract ( 1610 )   PDF (830KB) ( 2609 )
Based on the production theory, as influential factors of productivity, the national characteristics are introducing into traditional model of stochastic production frontier and based on Cobb-Douglas production function, the two-equation stochastic production frontier model is constructed to investigate the contribution of Information Technology (IT) capital toward economic growth and production efficiency during the period of 1996 to 2007 in China. The main conclusions are as follows: the IT capital has a positive impact on economic growth and production efficiency, the productivity paradox is not a phenomenon of globalization is verified at the national level; the IT capital weakens the contributions of physical capital toward economic growth, and strengthens the contributions of human capital toward economic growth; the national characteristics improve production efficiency, however do not realize the value of IT investment; the phenomenon of returns to scale decrease occurs in china. Based on the results of empirical examination, some suggestions for promoting IT investment value in China are proposed.
