Abstract

The purpose of the paper is to conduct the crossnational comparative research on the activities of product innovation. Drawing on the related literature, a conceptual model of product innovation which is on the basis of a key factor-to-positional advantage-to- performance framework is built, and the research hypothesis is put forward. Through the survey of Chinese firms, American firms, and Japanese firms, the process that the influencing factors of product innovation affect on the new product development results is comparatively analyzed. The results show that the influencing factors of product innovation roughly play the same role in the different countries. However the extent of factors function in China is different from that in developed countries.
