Abstract: Based on the panel data of 30 provinces in mainland China from 2001-2009, it explores how government intervention of pull, government intervention of push and natural resources affect regional innovation output. The results show that marketization pulls all kinds of innovation outputs, while R&D only pushes the output of patents and natural resources have negative effects. It implies that the effect of market-oriented government intervention of pull plays a key role, the push effect of R&D is limited and resource curse in the field of regional innovation exists.
