Abstract

Basing on the contingency perspective of network research, this paper explores the moderating role of personality traits on relationship between advice network and knowledge creation. The empirical results of six knowledge-intensive companies and institutions' knowledge worker's advice network show that conscientiousness moderate positively the relationship between centrality and knowledge creation; extroversion moderate positively the relationship between structural hole and knowledge creation. The interactive effect of centrality and structural hole on knowledge creation is not supported by our empirical work. This paper contributes to a better understanding of the actor's knowledge creation mechanism, and discusses the limitation and the future possible extension.
