Abstract: This paper explores the effect of knowledge worker's role stress on life satisfaction, the mediating effect of family interference with work and the moderating effect of social support on the mediation of family interference with work based on the data collected from the two-round investigation made to 528 knowledge workers. The results of hierarchical regression and moderated path analysis show that the role stress not only has a direct negative impact on life satisfaction, but also has an indirect negative impact through the full mediating effect of family interference with work when the social support from various sources is at a lower level. This mechanism embodies in a form of the moderated mediation such that social support weakens the mediating effect of family interference with work between role stress and life satisfaction. In other words, family interference with work will no longer have a significant impact on life satisfaction when the social support arrives at a higher level and consequently the mediating effect of family interference with work between role stress and life satisfaction is not significant any more.
