Abstract: The level of co-evolution between high-tech industry and regional economy has a direct relationship with the sustainable development of regional economy. Based on the theory of co-evolution, this paper first establishes a co-evolution model of China's high-tech industry and corresponding regional economy. After that, the indicator system for measurement of two-system co-evolution is built by employing synergy method and selecting relevant sequence parameters. In addition, we also conduct an empirical analysis to investigate the co-evolution between the two systems using the data of 30 regions in China (Tibet is excluded for missing data.).The results show that there are four kinds of gradient distribution in China and the process of co-evolution is both elevating continuously and fluctuating repeatedly. Additionally, we also find that the general level of co-evolution is relatively low, while a significant gap between the eastern region and western region is observed.
