New ventures’ entrepreneurial orientation, connectionutilization and performance

Abstract: On the basis of anin-depth analysis of the uniqueness of the transitional economies and market environment, this paperproposes that there is a unique feature when new ventures adopt entrepreneurial orientation in the transitional economies. Meanwhile, we explore the transformation mechanism of entrepreneurial orientation to new ventures' performance based on the connection view. The data results obtained based on 149 new ventures' sample in Changchun, Jilin show that entrepreneurial orientation positively promotes performance, the use of business connections and governmentconnections positively enhance the performance, and business connections and government connections will positively mediate the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and performance. The results deepen the theory of entrepreneurial orientation under transition economies context.
