Abstract

Fromthe theoretical perspective of organizational learning, this paper explores the cultivating mechanism and the effect of organizational ambidexterity on firm performance. Based on statistical analyses and case studies, this paper arrives at the following conclusions. Firstly, organizational learning promotes organizational ambidexterity. Secondly, organizational ambidexterity improves firm performance. Last but not theleast, organizational ambidexterity plays a partially mediating role between organizational learning and firm performance. Taken together, this research reveals another kind of contextual ambidexterity which is different from Gibson and Birkinshaw's(2004), clarifies the mechanisms of impact organizational context has on organizational ambidexterity, and enriches the empirical evidence on the relationship between organizational ambidexterity and organizationalperformance.
