Abstract

Supported by the resource-based view and based on the social network and relevant statistical analysis method, we built up a large-scale alliance innovation network of 10 high-tech industries in China, and studied the 420 listed companies as sample to explore the impact of network embeddedness and geographic embeddedness on their innovation performance. The results demonstrated that the centrality of the individual intermediary and the industrial network density have significant positive influences on the enterprise's innovation performance, but there is an obvious lag effect on the part of the intermediary centrality. We also found out that the geographic location of an enterprise is not related to its innovation performance, but the location has a significant moderating effect on the relationship between the network density and the innovation performance. Specifically, the influence of the network density on the enterprise's innovation performance will disappear if the enterprise is located outside the three economic circles. These conclusions will provide new scientific basis for the development of relevant industrial policies and conducting of the alliance activities
