Abstract

In reviewing the social capital theory, the paper divides the social capital in the network into the internal social capital and the external social capital, and builds up the theoretical model of "network relation-internal and external social capital-technical innovation" while conducting an empirical research based on the survey of 916 SMEs in four clusters of Zhujiang River Delta region. The results indicate that the network relation has a positive impact on the internal and external social capital and technical innovation, and the internal and external social capital play partly an intermediary role between the network relation and the technical innovation. In addition, the results propose that the firm size and R&D investment also have an impact on the relationship among the network relation, internal and external social capital and technical innovation. Finally, the theoretical contribution and practice implication are also discussed in this paper. Keywords:
