Abstract

As an important innovation approach, the non-R&D activities acquire more and more attention. Based on the data from 230 questionnaires on manufacturing enterprises in Yangtze River Delta region, this paper carries out an empirical study on the relationship between three kinds of non-R&D activities (design, training, and the use of advanced production technology) and manufacturing enterprises' innovation performance. The results reveals that: (1)training has a markedly positive effect on design and the use of advanced production technology; (2) the use of advanced production technology does not have a markedly positive effect on design; (3) design and the use of advanced production technology have a markedly direct and positive effect on innovation performance; and (4) training does not have a markedly direct and positive effect on innovation performance, but it can indirectly influence the innovation performance through design or the use of advanced production technology.

Key words
