Abstract: Technological cooperation is an effective means for the acquisition of external key resources by enterprises with open innovation, in which cooperation mode and openness play crucial parts in the cooperation management for external technology acquisition. Based on a survey on 213 equipment manufacturers, inverted U curves of different shapes are obtained to describe the impact of cooperative openness on the acquisition of both new technology and specialized complementary assets, and impact of market openness on the acquisition of new technology. And the market openness has been proved to possess a linear impact on the acquisition of specialized complementary assets. Firms could select the suitable cooperation mode and openness based on their own status with reference to the results.
