Abstract: Based on the panel data of China's 29 regions during the period of 1991-2007, an empirical analysis on the disparity and the exogenous affecting factors of the technical efficiency of logistics industry is condncted by using a single-stage estimation procedure of the stochastic frontier production function. The results show that the overall technical efficiency is the low, and there are expanding disparities between regions; the proportion of the state-owned economy in fixed assets and government intervention impede the improvement of the efficiency, but the negative impacts are gradually decreasing; human capital and degree of openness have the positive effects on the efficiency, in the central and western regions, there is an interaction between lower human capital and degree of openness, which makes a widening gap of the efficiency between these two regions and the east region; with the implementation of west development strategy, the industrial structure has become a significantly positive affecting factor in the west region; as far as logistics development environment is concerned, the phenomenon of sunken can be found in central region; improvement of logistics has an important meaning to promote the regional coordinative development.
