The relationship among technical fields based on patent citation network

Abstract

Based on the different classification of technical fields, patent citation network, and SNA tools, the relationship that is revealed by patent citation derived from the USPTO database is comprehensively studied. By means of tracking patent knowledge flow among different technical fields, the macro features of the network are shown. Research results indicate the characteristics of patent citation network as follows: total amount is balanceable on the inside and the knowledge frequently flows, on the outside, the knowledge occasionalyy concentrates.
