Abstract: The input efficiency of technical renovation and technology acquisition in Chinese large and medium-sized industrial enterprises is studied . First, with an index analysis, the characteristics of input-intensity change in technical renovation and technology acquisition for Chinese large and medium-sized industrial enterprises are discussed. Next, the input efficiency of technology acquisition is measured with a DEA model. The results show that the dependency of Chinese large and medium-sized industrial enterprises on foreign technology appears a descending trend. The input efficiency of technology acquisition for large and medium-sized industrial enterprises by region is rather low in general. It indicates that the investment in independent innovation for Chinese large and medium-sized industrial enterprises is continuously increasing. On the other hand, the ability of technology acquisition, absorption, digestion, and innovation is not strong. How to achieve independent innovation by acquiring technology is still an essential problem for Chinese large and medium-sized industrial enterprises to solve.
