Age structure of research personnel for Chinese management science

Abstract: The author age structure of research papers published in 11 journals of Chinese management science with high impact factors is presented through a scientometrics analysis. Quantitative characteristics of author age structures in Chinese management science team are revealed: The author age structure of Chinese management science is the unimodal age distribution with high peak of young authors and first authors of research papers whose ages are below 35-year-old have made up to 50% of total first authors and maintained a steady development; Student author, especially doctoral candidates, are major groups published management science papers and the rejuvenation are due to increasing proportion of students; The two-author and three-author are major patterns of management science collaboration; For a two-author collaboration, young-middle age authors and young-elder are the predominant age structure, for three-author collaboration, middle age-young-young authors and young-middle age-young authors are the important age structures; The scientific collaboration between professors and their students is the most important patterns in Chinese management science team.
