Abstract

Abstract: From angle of on the resource-based view, the issue of control embedded in the Chinese-foreign IJVs is examined. The arguement that the relative controlling power of IJV participants largely depends on the resources, especially the key resources committed by either party and the control status by nature is highly dynamic is proposed. The dynamic evolution of IJV control is mainly derived from the learning capacity. Only through consistent learning and subsequent innovation, IJV participant could strengthen the access and control of critical resources, and therefore move the allocation of IJV control pattern toward the desired direction. The framework is also applied to analyze a series of IJVs established by Danone. Managerial implications are discussed based on a comprehensive examination of the evolutionary control pattern of IJVs with the participation of Danone.
