Abstract: Abstract: Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) has practically developed its establishment model for technology-based spin-off companies, which is ahead of cognition and theoretical study. The empirical study on CAS’s establishment model for its technology-based spin-off companies is reported. First, by defining the conception of scientific research institute that creates technology-based spin-off company model, an analyzsis structure which consists of five dimensions and two links is developed. Then the CAS’s practical establishment model for the technology-based spin-off companies is analyzed by using this structure, so that the characteristics of all its dimensions and links become clear. Next, the CAS’s establishment model is discussed; and the suggestions for its future practice are given. By comparing CAS’s practices with some theoretical views in the area technology-based spin-off companies created by scientific research institutes, some suggestions for future study are given as well.
