Abstract: The public sector performance evaluation studies in the journals of Public Administration Review and Chinese Public Administration are compared by analyzing the papers published in these two journals, it is found that there is an huge distance between the studiesin USA and in China. The Chinese studies now areworking on clarifying the basic theories in the research topic, which only belongs to the beginning stage of performance evaluation research. In addition, only the theoretical methods were mainly used, but the empiricalones were almost totally neglected. It is suggested that deepen the research topic and use more empirical research methods.
