Abstract

Abstract: Urbanization is an important part of Chinese modernization process at the 21st century, and the key point solution for many structural contradictions in the economic and social development. The 21st century is the century of cities. China, the world most populous developing country in the next 20 years, its urbanization process will have a far-reaching impact on the global development. Many foreign scholars take Chinese urbanization and United States tied high-tech as the two key factors which will influence the process of human beings of 21 century. One of major problems involving Chinese urban development, namely, city development convergence and divergence is analyzed. An index system, a different path of urban development, and the macroeconomic strategy are involved. Finally, the 43 Chinese cities are used as the case study of typical data to examine the specific situation of Chinese urban development convergence and divergence.
