Characteristics of the network organizations and their effects on the boost of organizational learning

Abstract: In general, organizational learning and network organization are interwoven. On one hand, the organizational learning, innovation, and knowledge sharing are considered as key successful factors to the formation and evolution of the network organization, and on the other hand, the networked forms of organizations have remarkable influence the on organizational learning. Based on the literature review and analysis, the 10 characteristics of network organizations are identified, these characteristics include (1) the activeness and hierarchy of nodes; (2) inter-dependency; (3) variety of links; (4) dynamic inter-activeness; (5) middle ness; (6) embedded ness; (7) complexity; (8) flexibility; (9) diversity; (10) cooperativeness. All these characteristics have the positive effects on the organizational learning.
