Abstract: The standard-based competition has been at the center of the development of IT industries in China and as elsewhere. To improve the competitiveness of China's IT industry, the Chinese government and many enterprises have strengthened their efforts on building own technology standards. This paper based on literature review, proposes the theoretical framework for analyzing the standard-based competition, highlights main characteristics of China's competition for standards, through a case study of China's EVD players. Meanwhile, problems need to be explored in the future have been pinpointed.
