Research on influencing factors of Chinese universities’ patent utilization

Abstract

The patent applications and grants quantities keep growing rapidly, but the ratio of patent utilizations is relatively low in Chinese University. Based on the patent value theory, this paper analyzes factors that influence on patent utilization of universities from the perspective of patent transaction, patent integration, patent litigation and the market-oriented nature of patent. The regression results show that the number of patents and patent integration capabilities are positively correlated with the ratio of patent utilization; financial support and dependence of trading platform are negatively correlated with the ratio of patent utilization. Finally, the paper renders some suggestions to promote patent utilization in Chinese universities.
