Abstract: Based on the basic analysis of the concept of knowledge withholding in project teams, the social cognitive theory, social loafing theory etc. were integrated and the concept model on the antecedents of knowledge withholding was constructed. Then the stepwise regression analysis was applied to test the hypotheses by means of 187 valid questionnaires. The results show that knowledge sharing self-efficacy, personal outcome expectations, extrinsic incentive, distributive justice and reciprocity have negative impact on knowledge withholding. Knowledge sharing self-efficacy has a positive impact on personal outcome expectations. The results also show that personal outcome expectation has a partial intermediate effect on the relation between knowledge sharing self-efficacy and knowledge withholding and reciprocal preference has obvious function of adjusting the relationship between knowledge sharing self-efficacy and knowledge withholding. Lastly, we analyzed and discussed the conclusions.
