Study on the relationship between organizational change and implementation of advanced manufacturing technology

Abstract: Implementation of advanced manufacturing technology (AMT) is an important support to promote the upgrading of manufacturing industry in the 21st century. This paper establishes a structural equation model to interpret the relationship among organizational structure reform, job reform, people management reform and implementation effect of AMT based on literature review and questionnaire investigation. Through the empirical research of 307 equipment manufacturing enterprises in China, the paper also analyses the different influences of the three types of organizational change on implementation effect of AMT, and examines the influences of context factors and AMT categories on the relationship between organizational change and implementation effect of AMT. The results show that: (1) People management reform is the most important factor which influences enterprises to implement AMT;(2) There are significant path relationship among operating benefit, management benefit and competitive benefit;(3) The administrative/integrated AMT hasmore urgent requirements for organizational change than the design-related /manufacturing AMT.
