Abstract: Current researches have shown that human resource management practices have a significant influence on firm performance. However, the mechanism of this influence has not yet been revealed. This study examines the role of knowledge management orientation in the relationship between human resource management practices and firm performance from the knowledge-based view. This study uses structure equation modelto test the hypotheses in a sample of 238 firms. The resultsindicate that human resource management practices are positively related to knowledge management orientation which, in turn, has a positive effect on firm performance. The findings provide evidence that knowledge management orientation plays a partial mediating role between humanresource management practices and firm performance. Finally, this study discusses managerial implications and highlights future research directions.
