The mechanism of learning orientation and knowledge managementcapability on competitive advantage

Abstract: How to make use of knowledge management to form the competitive advantage of a corporation has become one of the hot topics both in academic and business circles. An empirical investigation on the relationship among learning orientation, knowledge management capability, organizational innovation, and competitive advantage is carried out. The sample of this study includes 167 companies in Yangtze River Delta region. The results show that learning orientation contains five dimensions, such as team orientation, memory orientation, information orientation, market orientation, and system orientation; all the dimensions have significant positive impacts on knowledge management capability, especially team-oriented dimension and market-oriented dimensions play the most significant positive roles in the knowledge management capability; knowledge management capability does not have a direct impact on competitive advantage, however indirectly affects the competitive advantage through the full intermediary of organizational innovation.
