Abstract: From the new perspective of the dual-track system for Chinese economic transformation, why the natural resource-rich areas have relatively slow economic growth is analyzed. Due to the special structure in the proceeding, it is defined as the Chinese style resource curse. Results reveal that the effect of the resource curse does exist, and the dual-track system is an important factor that leads to it. The development level of regional economy is further analyzed by using the panel error modified model. It is further confirmed that energy supply, or energy demand is cointegrated with the dual-track system in the long term, and the dual-track system impairs economic growth more severely in resource-rich areas than that in other areas.
