Abstract: From the perspective of knowledge trading among supply chain partners, a conceptual model for the relationship among partner characteristics, knowledge trading, and innovation performance is proposed and empirically tested using the data collected from 256 enterprises in the supply chain with a structural equation model. The partner characteristics in the model are described based on cultural compatibility, resource dependence, and knowledge distance. The results indicate that cultural compatibility has a significant and positive impact on knowledge trading, however, it does not have a significantly positive impact on innovation performance. Resource dependence has a significant and positive impact not only on knowledge trading, but also on innovation performance. Although knowledge distance has a significant and negative impact on innovation performance, it does not have a significantly negative impact on knowledge trading. Finally, it is also proved that knowledge trading has a significant and positive impact on innovation performance.
