Creditors’ governance, innovation incentive’s duality and innovation performance: An empirical study from the perspective of relational creditor
    Wang Xu
    2017, 38(3): 1-10.
    Abstract ( 943 )
Debt heterogeneity theory has offered a new perspective to explain the relationship between debt financing and corporations’ technological innovation under the fierce competition environment. The duality property of innovation incentive has been first put forward by this paper, based on which the mediation effect of these two types of innovation incentive between banks’ governance and innovation performance has been tested from the perspective of relational creditor. The moderation effect of property right has also been studied so as to explore the function border of banks’ governance towards innovation performance. It is found out that commercial banks in China have been showing typical features as relational creditor, and its governance mechanism can boost debtors’ innovation performance through the mediation effect of constraining innovation incentive. While the mediation effect of encouraging incentive is not significant. Furthermore, property right can significantly moderate the relationship between creditors’ governance and innovation performance. Along with equity ratio of state owned shares increases, there is less constraining incentive generated by creditors’ governance mechanism, and its boost effect upon innovation performance is consequently weakened.

Wang Liying, Wang Jiamin, Yu Weijia
    2017, 38(3): 29-37.
    Abstract ( 894 )
Developing patent intensive industries is an important strategy to promote industrial competitive advantage. Due to unbalanced development of economy and differences in leading industry of different regions, regional patent intensive industries are still faced with problems of mismatch between technology input and output, inactive technical transformation investment market and other problems, so it is urgent to do some researches on innovation efficiency evaluation and promotion path. Based on construction of regional patent intensive industries and from the perspective of innovation value chain, the paper divides innovation processes into three stages, including science and technology output, commodity output and value output, and studies by using DEA to differences in innovation efficiency of regional patent intensive industries and non-patent intensive industries at different stages. The paper indicates that innovation efficiency of regional patent intensive industries are better than non-patent intensive industries, but they are not DEA effective in every stages, and innovation input and output for some of the industries do not match and the input redundancy of these industries are serious in the stages of commodity output and value output. Then the paper puts forward the promotion path for innovation efficiency on regional patent intensive industries, and some countermeasures are suggested to promote industrial development.

Zhou Jingmiao, Zhao Yuzhe, Xiao Guirong, Wu Chunyou
    2017, 38(3): 38-51.
    Abstract ( 799 )
A clarification of “impact mechanism for directed technological change on green growth under pollution control” can provide reference for different economic systems in the world to implement a new and more sustainable green growth reform. Based on re-distinguishing the forms of directed technological change and re-constructing the endogenous relationship between non-renewable resource and directed technological innovation, this paper propose a non-linear optimal control model in which both the objective function and the possible constraints can fully embody the characteristics of inclusive, sustainable and equilibrium in green growth. Findings will be summarized from the results of the steady state calculation in the infinite horizon problem and the model simulation. Firstly, the key dynamic element of green growth is technological innovation and the capital space of which should be adequate. Secondly, non-renewable resource is not necessary to drive green growth. Finally, environmental policies should be implemented to guide the carbon abatement technology rather than the production technology.

Firms’ intra-or inter-regional R&D collaboration and innovative performance—The moderating effect of technology diversification
    2017, 38(3): 52-60.
    Abstract ( 747 )
Whether to choose intra-or inter-regional R&D collaboration is a very important part of firms’ open innovation strategy. This paper systematically describes the mechanism for firms’ intra-or inter-regional R&D collaboration on innovative performance, as well as the moderating effect of technology diversification, and meanwhile verifies the hypotheses by using negative binomial regression models and data about listed firms in the electric vehicle industry. The results show that firms’ intra-or inter-regional R&D collaborations both have a significantly positive impact on innovative performance. Specifically, intra-regional R&D collaboration promotes innovative quantity, while inter-regional R&D collaboration benefits innovative quality. The moderating effects of technology diversification are significantly negative.

An analysis of China’s position and its evolution in international innovation protection network
Pu Yue, Wu Gang, Yao Xing
    2017, 38(3): 61-68.
    Abstract ( 820 )
In this paper, we build up the international innovation protection network by using patent data between countries released from World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). And we focus on the structural characteristics of the network and China’s position in this network. The results show that international innovation protection network shows obvious characteristics of a small world network and “core-peripheral” structure. China’s position and control are gradually enhanced in the network, but it still lags behind the United States, Japan, Germany, Britain, and other developed countries in in-degree, betweenness centrality and PageRank centrality, having only higher ranking in out-degree. That means China’s innovation ability is still insufficient, and its voice and influence still need to be further improved in the international innovation protection network.

    2017, 38(3): 69-76.
    Abstract ( 1064 )
This paper explores the influences of CEOs’ dual roles (one person serving as both CEO and board chairman) on firms’ technological innovation. Using a sample of China’s listed firms for the period 2003-2014, this study finds that CEO duality promotes the firms’ technological innovation. Specifically, we find that firms with CEO duality invest more in innovation, obtain more patents, and achieve greater innovative success for given research and development expenditures. In addition, we find that the impact of CEO duality on increasing innovation is more pronounced for firms under severe supervisions.

    2017, 38(3): 77-85.
    Abstract ( 758 )
In order to promote the industrialization process of emerging economies and explore the mode and path of industrialization development, it is urgent to build a set of industrialization level measurement systems. Base on the theories of internationalization of national innovation system, endogenous growth and new institutional economics, this paper constructs the “five dimensional model” to measure the level of industrialization in emerging economies, named the Measurement Model of “Development Stage - Industrial Competitiveness - Industrial Efficiency - Internationalization Degree - Sustainable Development Institutions” using the methods of analytic hierarchy process, cluster analysis, principal component analysis and DEA analysis. This “Five Dimensional Model" develops a new model to measure the industrialization level in the situation of new world industrial structure competition, extends the classical industrialization measure theory, and provides a theoretical enlightenment for China’s “One Belt and One Road” strategy and the international production capacity cooperation in practice.

A classified evaluation of knowledge supply chain efficiency of regional hi-tech industries
    2017, 38(3): 86-93.
    Abstract ( 761 )
To evaluate objectively the efficiency condition of Knowledge Supply Chain (KSC) is conductive to promoting regional sustained and healthy development of hi-tech industries. Through using KSC theory, DEA model, cluster analysis method, this paper constructs a set of relatively systematic classified evaluation system of KSC efficiency in regard to regional hi-tech industries. Based on the statistical data of China’s hi-tech industries’ statistical yearbook (2013-2014), from the perspective of input and output, classified evaluation results and optimizing countermeasures for China’s 31 provinces and cities’ KSC efficiency in regard to regional hi-tech industries are provided in this paper. The study shows that the KSC efficiency of China’s hi-tech industry is generally quite good. However, great disparities exist for different scales of KSC input and output when comparing hi-tech industries in different types of provinces and cities. Eliminating the waste of input resource, enhancing the amount of efficient invention patents and the sales revenue of new products are main points to improve KSC efficiency of hi-tech industries in backward provinces and cities. The results of this study provide some practical enlightenments for different types of provinces and cities in improving KSC efficiency of hi-tech industries.

A research on the influencing factors of technological achievementvalue based on Hedonic Price Model
    Qi Yong, Wang Haoyi
    2017, 38(3): 94-103.
    Abstract ( 847 )
Systematic and scientific evaluation index system is the basis for accurate assessment of technological achievement values, and on the basis of theoretical research, this paper constructs the index system and carries out an empirical study of the influencing factors of technological achievement values based on the Hedonic Price Model. The study result shows that the technical level and economic benefits of technological achievements are positively correlated with their prices, and legal status has a weak explanatory capability to the value of technological achievements. Furthermore, the technical level and legal status somewhat strengthens the relationship between economic benefits and technological achievement values. Due to this dual impact of technical level and legal status on economic benefits and technological achievement values, the technical level and legal status are quasi-moderating variables in statistical terms. Finally, the paper puts forward some countermeasures and suggestions to perfect the value evaluation index system of technological achievements.

Impact mechanism of leader empowering behavior on individual learning capability
    Chen Guoquan, Chen Zidong
    2017, 38(3): 114-127.
    Abstract ( 795 )
Synthesizing theories of empowering leadership, psychological engagement and individual learning capability, this paper built up and tested a theoretical model linking leader empowering behavior and employee individual learning capability via several intervening variables. The result showed that: (1) leader empowering behavior had significant positive impact on employee leader identification, colleague trust, psychological empowerment and psychological safety; (2) the relationship between leader empowering behavior and employee psychological empowerment was mediated by leader identification and colleague trust; (3) the relationship between leader empowering behavior and psychological safety was mediated by leader identification and colleague trust; (4) employee psychological safety was positively related to psychological empowerment; (5) employee psychological empowerment and safety had a positively influence on individual learning capability. Leader empowering behavior affected individual learning capability via two psychological mechanisms. One is “motivational path” which increased individual learning capability – leader empowering behavior positively affected leader identification and colleague trust, which in turn influenced psychological empowerment. The other path is “hygiene path” which decreased obstacles for individual learning – leader empowering behavior positively affected leader identification and colleague trust, which in turn influenced psychological safety. Psychological empowerment and psychological safety jointly advanced individual learning capability. This study mainly makes contributions to the field of organizational learning

An analysis of government R&D subsidies’ dynamic impacts on duopoly R&D inputs and outputs based on the perspective of bounded rationality 
    Zhao Hua, Yao Yun
    2017, 38(3): 135-143.
    Abstract ( 794 )
Based on the classic duopoly games and branch theory of dynamic system and chaos economics principle, this paper creates a dynamic model of R&D competition with government R&D subsidy, analyzing the effects of R&D subsidy on the R&D competition’s Nash equilibrium and the whole market operation, while a numerical simulation is carried out. The research shows that: (1) Appropriate subsidy rates are largely limited by market demand function, adjustment speed of R&D investment and product costs. Keeping R&D subsidy rates within certain range helps system maintain equilibrium states. In other words, bifurcation or chaos could happen if R&D subsidy coefficient falls out of range. (2) In the early stage of subsidy policy, the market could be in a short unstable state, in which the fluctuation range of R&D investment is larger than that of profit margin, and both of them have a positive relationship with government R&D subsidy rates. (3) Public R&D subsidies encourage corporations to increase R&D investment and enable corporations with faster adjustment speed to obtain higher return in dynamic duopoly games. At last, suggestions of subsidy strategies at policy level are given to provide reference for relevant R&D subsidy policy formulation.

A research on the dual-path of intrapreneurship by using lean startup to get out of “War Fog”
    2017, 38(3): 144-152.
    Abstract ( 724 )
Faced with a highly uncertain environment, why and how to start a business within the enterprise has been unsolved. From the lean startup perspective and based on qualitative research method, this paper discusses and analyzes the reasons and process of intrapreneurship, and constructs dynamic process model of intrapreneurship under the dual-path of “new venture within enterprise” and “derivative venture out of enterprise”. Specifically, (1) External environment change causes organizational change, triggers bottom-up innovation, and results in intrapreneurship activity; (2) In the first path, it uses intra incubation strategy around the validation study can reduce the waste in the production process; In the other path, applies open innovation strategy to make up for the lack of internal resources and technology. Using dual-path to conduct intrapreneurship can reduce the risk effectively. The conclusions not only enrich the theory of intrapreneurship, but also have the guidance significance for enterprise adopting the lean startup approach. Finally, the paper discusses the limitations and future research directions.
