Abstract: Because of increasingly serious environmental issues in the world, environmental behavior becomes a new direction in the study of environmental science. From two perspectives of social psychology and environmental education, the main theories on the study of environmental behavior are reviewed. Furthermore, significant variables which influenceenvironmental behavior are recognized and classified; those are attitude, characteristic, knowledge and situational variable. At last, the limitations of existing studies are analyzed and the further research trends are suggested.
