A positive research on the potential competency feature of software engineers

Abstract

Abstract: The potential competency is relative to the performance of software engineers; however it is difficult to measure, and is rarely used in enterprises. Based on the analysis and definition of the software engineer work, using Behavior Event Interview(BEI) method and principal component method, the potential competency features of software engineer are explored, five characters of potential competency about software engineer are obtained. They are achievement orientation, ideation, collaboration, initiative, and diligence. Finally, some suggestions in the application are put forward.
