The influence of technological variety of knowledge base on the innovative performance: A test in Chinese electrical & electronic industry

Abstract

Abstract: Based on the data of 54 firms from the Chinese electrical & electronic industry from 2001 to 2011, and using the panel data model, this paper examines the relationship between variety of the knowledge base, absorptive capacity and the innovative performance. The results show the related variety of knowledge base has a significant positive influence on firms' innovative performance, while a U-shaped relationship is found between the unrelated variety of knowledge base and innovative performance. And the absorptive capacity has a significant meditative effect on the relationship between variety of knowledge base and the firms' innovative performance.
