The method of identifying the application field of technology based on the SAO structure of patents

Abstract

Abstract: This paper proposes a method of identifying the application field of technology based on the SAO structure of patents.To identifying the application field of technology, we firstly extract the information related to the application field from the abstracts of patents, and then extract the SAO structures using natural language processing(NLP) tools,and then calculate the semantic similarity between the SAO structures and gain a clustering patent map according to the similarity of patents. In the end, the paper demonstrates the proposed method using the example of graphene sensor technology. The method proposed in this paper can realize the division of technology according to the application field, which lays a foundation for the research of technology across fields.
