Abstract: Energy storage technology is the key to lead us to move into the green and low carbon future. To comprehensively understand and position the scientific performance of China in energy storage technology field, we intended to combine bibliometric method with social network analysis techniques to comprehensively investigate and compare the scientific performance of China in energy storage technology from a multi-dimensional and longitudinal perspective. Results indicate scientific output grows significantly worldwide. The scientific output and influence of the USA are both in a superior position compared to the most other countries. China holds the most scientific output, however, its scientific influence is relatively insufficient. Although the USA and several European countries play significantly roles on internationally scientific collaboration, China exert great influence on internationally scientific collaboration in recent years. We found that phase change energy storage, superconducting magnetic energy storage, supercapacitor, lithium ion battery and energy storage materials are major research topics in this field.
