A qualitative meta-analysis of the emergence of entrepreneurial spirit in the organizational context: The discovery of self-organizing mechanisms based on relational order

Abstract:      In the organizational context, the significance of entrepreneurial spirit lies in driving continuous innovations within businesses. However, the question of how to facilitate the emergence of entrepreneurial spirit remains a pressing issue. This study, based on the findings of 30 relevant case studies on the theme of entrepreneurial spirit in an organizational context, employed a qualitative meta-analysis approach to explore the evolutionary path and emergence of entrepreneurial spirit. The research revealed that the emergence of entrepreneurial spirit is a self-organizing process guided by relational order. This relational order comprises three elements: mental structures, trust and power. It propels collaboration within entrepreneurial teams and, through a phase transition process, gives rise to entrepreneurial behaviors, which in turn provide feedback to the relational order. This study also recognized the complexity of micro-level activities in the emergence of entrepreneurial spirit, including the complexity of prerequisites for entrepreneurial spirit emergence, the complexity of the evolution of relational order, and the complexity of interactive processes among team members. The research, on the one hand, has unearthed the driving role of relational order in its self-organizing path. On the other hand, it has systematically outlined the emerging patterns of entrepreneurial spirit, providing theoretical insights and practical guidance for guiding the emergence of entrepreneurial spirit in organizational contexts.
