Abstract:    Breakthrough in key core technologies is an important step and intrinsic requirement for China to achieve high-level science and technology self-reliance, which is crucial for promoting high-quality development and maintaining competitive advantages of enterprises. In this study, we conducted a longitudinal case study of KingMed Diagnostics and explored the internal mechanism and specific paths of breakthroughs in key core technologies from the perspective of dynamic resource management. We found that: (1) The precursor to breakthroughs in key core technologies is the cognitive process where managers perceive external situations and respond internally, manifesting as the dynamic evolution of "benchmarking—technology extension—technology expansion". (2) The essence of breakthroughs in key core technologies lies in managers′ cognitive responses and their construction of resource action strategies that match them, embodied in the dynamic succession of "resource pooling—resource arrangement—resource orchestration". (3) Achieving breakthroughs in key core technologies involves a gradual progression from low-level to high-level through technological exploration, technological expansion, and technological upgrading, presenting as the progressive evolution of "technological standardization→technological scaling→technological iteration". This study constructs a process model of breakthroughs in key core technologies, revealing the process mechanisms of technological innovation, aiming to provide beneficial insights for innovation management practices in technology enterprises.
