Abstract:     Chinese-style innovation is an inherent part of Chinese-style modernization, particularly evident at the micro-level through the innovative practices of enterprises within the Chinese context. Since the implementation of the S&T innovation Board, a cohort of S&T innovation enterprises (STIEs) have achieved technological leaps in diverse domains using innovation paths distinct from those observed in advanced economies. The innovative practice provides an exceptional opportunity to explore the strengths and experiences associated with Chinese-style innovation. This study selected two typical STIEs, Sino GNSS and Siyi Intelligence, analyzed the evolution path of technological innovation within STIEs operating in the Chinese context based on the attention-based view and resource allocation theory. The study found that: the evolution of technological innovation in STIEs comprises three phases: technological exploration, technological expansion, and technological upgrading. In the technological exploration phase, STIEs rely on the robust government-led technology development ecosystem to establish a mission-oriented dominant logic, and complete technological breakthroughs through patchwork resource construction. In the technology expansion phase, STIEs rely on the characteristics of market segments in China′s ultra-large-scale market to establish a demand-development or technology-migration dominant logic, and complete technology expansion through exploratory or coupled resource bundling. In the technological upgrading phase, STIEs harness the rapid growth of China′s strategic emerging industries to adopt an ecosystem-building dominant logic, and complete technological integration through restructuring resource leveraging. The research conclusion not only revealed the process mechanism of the Chinese-style innovation from the perspective of the technological evolution path within STIEs, but also provided valuable guidance for the innovation management practice of enterprises in the Chinese context.
