Abstract:     Digitalization transformation is an important strategic choice for enterprises to comply with the development and requirements of digital era. However, exploring how digital transformation process matches the corresponding capabilities to improve innovation performance in a more fine-grained way needs more attention. Focusing on the initial phase of digital transformation and taking manufacturing small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs) in China as study objects, this paper conducted a quantitative empirical study in exploring the mechanism of platform digitization capability impacting disruptive innovation in SMEs based on 373 samples, and raised a novel theoretical framework. The findings of this study are summarized as follows: platform digitization capability has a significant role in promoting disruptive innovation in SMEs; resource reconfiguration plays a mediating role in the relationship between platform digitization capability and disruptive innovation in SMEs; coordination flexibility and structural formalization play positive moderating roles in the relationship between platform digitization capability and disruptive innovation, while resource flexibility fails to moderate the impact of platform digitalization capability on disruptive innovation in SMEs. This research has enriched and expanded the studies in exploring the interaction mechanism and boundary conditions between platform digitization capability and disruptive innovation in SMEs, and will provide some theoretical supports and references for enterprises to carry out digital transformation and improve innovation efficiency according to routine.
