Abstract: The paper explores the effect of innovative culture on technological innovativeness (i.e., product and process), and firm performance, and the moderating roles of innovativeness and asset specificity. By conducting a survey of 164 enterprises in China, and taking firm size and age as control variables, a theoretical model is empirically analyzed and tested. The results show that: encouragement and experiencing have a positive association with both firm product and process innovativeness; freedom has a positive relationship with firm process innovativeness. A firm's innovative culture influences its financial and market performance via firm innovativeness. When asset specificity is medium, the positive effect of encouragement or experiencing to product innovation is higher than when the levels of asset specificity are low or high. However, when asset specificity is medium, the positive effect of freedom to product innovation is lower than when the levels of asset specificity are low or high.
