微创新战略影响中小企业可持续成长的纵向案例研究
A longitudinal case study on the impact of micro-innovation strategy on the sustainable growth of small and medium-sized enterprises
国内外一些优秀的中小企业通过微创新战略实现了可持续成长,但对于微创新战略是如何促进中小企业可持续成长的问题并没有得到深入的回答。对此,本研究结合动态能力理论对全球吸管行业第一品牌、国内中小企业中的“隐形冠军”义乌市双童公司进行纵向案例分析,试图剖析中小企业微创新战略对企业可持续成长的作用机理。研究发现:(1)中小企业的微创新战略遵循“差异化”-“专业化”-“集成型”-“平台型”的路径演进,这一路径成为驱动企业可持续成长的动力源。(2)在微创新战略的引导下,中小企业通过“环境洞察能力-组织柔性能力-变革更新能力”的循环路径构建并持续提升其动态能力,进而实现可持续成长。(3)在不同的微创新战略作用下,中小企业动态能力提升的机理呈现出结构优化、专业技术知识优化、知识协同优化和共生关系优化四种差异性表现,其根本原因在于企业根据自身战略定位有针对性地集中资源优化价值链上的不同关键性活动。本研究不仅扩展了微创新与企业成长的理论研究,更为我国中小企业可持续成长提供理论参考和管理启示。
Some outstanding small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) at home and abroad have achieved sustainable growth through a micro-innovation strategy, but the question of how micro-innovation strategy promotes the sustainable growth of SMEs has not been deeply answered. In this regard, this study combined with the dynamic capability theory, conducted a longitudinal case analysis of Yiwu Shuangtong Company which is the first brand in the global straw industry and the ‘invisible champion’ of domestic SMEs, in an attempt to analyze the mechanism of micro-innovation strategy of SMEs on the sustainable growth of enterprises. The results showed that: (1) The micro-innovation strategy of SMEs follows the evolutionary path of ‘differentiated’-‘specialized’-‘integrated’-‘platform-based’, which has become the driving force for the sustainable growth of enterprises. (2) Guided by the micro-innovation strategy, SMEs build and continuously improve their dynamic capabilities through the circular path of "environmental insight capability-organizational flexibility capability - change and renewal capability", thereby achieving sustainable growth. (3) Under the influence of different micro-innovation strategies, the mechanisms of dynamic capability improvement of SMEs present four different manifestations including structure optimization, specialized technical knowledge optimization, knowledge coordination optimization, and symbiotic relationship optimization, and the fundamental reason is that enterprises according to their own strategic positioning focus resources on optimizing different key activities in the value chain. This research has not only expanded the theoretical framework of micro-innovation and enterprise growth but also provide theoretical reference and management enlightenment for the sustainable growth of SMEs in China.

聚焦于双元能力视角下微创新的实现过程和机制,结合探索性嵌入式单案例研究方法,以抖音短视频为案例研究对象,分析了在各种不确定性因素的驱动下,构建不同的双元能力以实现产品微创新的途径。研究发现:抖音短视频基于环境的不确定性,开发出不同的双元能力——技术、市场和价值双元能力;企业在产品创新的环节,通过不同双元能力的表现,实现不同的创新活动,最终实现产品的微创新改动。进而总结并提出了双元能力实现微创新的过程机制模型。
This study focuses on the core problem of “the realization process and mechanism of micro-innovation from the perspective of ambidextrous capabilities”, in view of the influence mechanism of ambidextrous capabilities on the realization of micro-innovation.Combined with the exploratory single case study methodand taking Douyin Short-video as the case study object, this study systematically analyzes how to construct different ambidextrous capabilities driven by various uncertain factors to achieve micro-innovation in products. The study finds that based on the uncertainty of the environment, Douyin Short-video develops different ambidextrous capabilities—technology, market and value ambidextrous capabilities.In the process of product innovation, the enterprise realizes different innovation activities through the performance of different ambidextrous capabilities, finally realizes the micro-innovation and modification of products。And then a new mechanism model of ambidextrous capabilities is proposed.

The appropriate resources are necessary but insufficient to achieve a competitive advantage. Resources must also be managed effectively. Herein, we develop a resource management process model composed of three components that can lead to a competitive advantage. These components include the resource inventory (evaluating, adding, and shedding), resource bundling, and resource leveraging. We examine resource management in family firms and thus explore the unique characteristics of five resources and attributes of family firms that provide potential advantages over nonfamily firms. The resources are human capital, social capital, patient capital, survivability capital, along with the governance structure attribute.

This article examines the extent to which combinations of intellectual resources and product innovation capability, and reputational resources and marketing capability, influence the ability of small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) to meet or exceed performance goals. Empirical results drawn from 171 SMEs suggest that when the combination of intellectual resources and product innovation capability in addition to the combination of reputational resources and marketing capability are high, SME growth is enhanced. However, a high level of intellectual resources combined with a low level of product innovation capability as well as a combination of a high level of reputational resources with a low level of marketing capability (and vice versa) are not significantly related to growth. These results imply that a high level of resources cannot compensate for a low level of capabilities (and vice versa).
